I installed Rovergauge at the weekend. It's obvious that one of my lambda probes is not giving any data. I'm going to swap the probes around just to check that the probe itself is at fault. The "odd bank" is nearside, right?
In the likely event that I have to buy a new probe, I've noticed a wide range in prices. A Britpart Land Rover item can be found under £40 (including 2 year warranty). Then they go up to over £100. Any recommendations?
Cheers,

Far as I know they are only made by one supplier, NTK I think and used on some Nissans. Im not aware of any generic parts as they are resistve probes unlike the vast majority of cars that use voltage producing probes. Cost wise there was a huge difference in price between the UK and USA, so it may just be sensible sourcing by Britpart. Odd bank is on the nearside of the car. Any doubt unplug the working probe and check RG shows no output.

Got myself an open sided socket set – cheap but seems decent quality. Drenched the probes with WD40 and left overnight. This morning not much is moving. The socket opens up and slips without rotating the probe. What are my options? I’m thinking cut the wires and use a standard 17mm deep socket. Man maths points to a new exhaust manifold though
A pig of a job I know. Have you tried with the engine hot? Different expansion of manifold and probe might help you.
If you do have to cut the wires cut close to the probe and then solder and heat shrink them together.
Meanwhile the jubilee clip sounds a good shout........ or perhaps a pair of Mole grips.

In the end I did cut the wires. Probe came out easily with a standard socket. I suspect a ghetto style hacked socked with a jubilee clip would also have worked but my “specialist “ socket did not have enough material to grip onto.
I did use my new socket to install a Britpart probe though, so that wasn’t a complete waste.
The new probe didn’t seem to work at first but I noticed a brief signal after I blipped the throttle, on the overrun, so probably a poor connection somewhere. In fact, the side clips on the electrical connectors don’t seem to be engaging. Do you really have to force those connectors together or is this a Britpart thing?
When I cross over the wiring I do get the expected short term trim on the opposite bank, so at least I know the loom is still working fine.
