I currently have standard plug leads fitted and they have been fine but as they are now a few years old I want to replace them with standard leads - Thinking Bosch. So which range rover set fits the 500 serp or is there another Bosch set? Any info appreciated.

I bought a set of these from Craddocks on other's recommendation

https://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/da4102-grey-sili...

Working a treat. There is a set with a king lead as well if you need a new one of those too. The 135 degree angle keeps the lead and boot well away from the manifold in my Chimaera

I have always expected my plug extenders might be sh*gged, at high revs my Griff was missing despite having new leads and cap so I followed a thread and made enquiries for these on flyaway that replaced leads and extenders

Hello Peter

Yes i have had all good results with my TVR leads please look at this set eBay item number:123779066313

I am out of office now until the 29th

Regards

Anthony

If you are going to replace leads then consider getting rid of those extenders as well.......!

Can't vouch personally but I'm going to give them a go when I unSORN the Green Meanie in the spring

Yes, I built my own from mr retro leads, good quality stuff and replaced all my ceramic rubbish with them. The ceramic leads cracked when replacing the plugs. Never again, Now have nice angles boots to clear the manifolds. All good.

Thanks for the thoughts, still not sure which range rover leads would fit correctly and whether the king lead is a different length though. Being able to check those available would give me a better choice... I think.

If you have a standard setup then Lucas RTC6551 will fit

Is it so much more expensive to buy them from a TVR Parts specialist.
At least if you did they should come with the correct lengths and angled caps to suit.
If your removing the extenders you might want to use socks to protect the caps which work well and has done as a product for decades now on race and high revving engines.

yes Each to there own but I would still run thermal socks regardless the boots take a right old battering on our cars due to the horizontal primary part of the manifolds frown small and big block Chevy guys have a similar issue inc the later LS series due to header and spark plug proximity , been using them over ten years no regrets and no failed/cooked ends

DEI for me too, not cheap but quality.
I'd buy a couple of sets from summit and sell the others on.
They will pay for the taxes at least.

So can someone explain to me why these 'socks' from the US are $12.99?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KFTKL37/ref=sspa_dk_d...

Whilst in the good old UK we seem to be charged in the £100's for a similar item.....!

Just asking for a friend....

There was a thread on here a year or two ago in which it was suggested you should look for socks containing basalt (not the actual rock but a fibre made from processing it) as it was a good heat insulator. Fibreglass is allegedly less effective. I bought some socks made with basalt from the usual auction site which have been on my Griff for the last 18 months or so, with no scorching or deterioration visible on the HT leads (which are standard Land Rover items that cost me about £17 the set). Admittedly my mileage has been low the past twelvemonth, but all good so far.

I couldn't see the same socks today, but these are similar and do use basalt. https://www.amazon.co.uk/TT-Racing-Engine-Titanium...

Made in the US, they are available to you for the princely sum of £15.44 for eight. About what I paid in fact.

You can buy your sock material from here.
You can buy by the metre & you will probably find something else you can use.
I doubled mine over & so far after a few years i have no sign of burning or scortching.
Used on Land Rover leads & Mr Retro leads.

An interesting link as some of the sleeving is rated at high temperatures (700-1000C!) and is available in various diameters, so any idea which you used and what diameter? Prices aren't bad either.
