Wondering if any one has fitted modern headlights like this within the existing pods?
I guess it would need levelling motors to be street legal in the UK.

(not sure of size without checking so just guessed. Im sure the right size is available somewhere)

The lack of replies may indicate that this has not been done before, and I guess with good reason , they are awful and would ruin the car.

"officialy" LED and Xenon lights need not only self-levleing device they also need a washing-device, as light output significantly reduces when the lenses are dirty.

lots of owners have converted to xenon without those additional devices and Mr. Mot let them pass (but MOT does not mean its legal).

There are a few conversions out there, some putting twin projectors inside the pods, some making it Tuscan-esque and I think Fibreon still offer them. Sportmotive offer a 7" conversion that drops out the existing H1's for H4's with a wiring upgrade, so I guess if you wanted, you could get those pods and change the light unit.

Jesus christ they are the ugliest things alive.
On a land rover they would be ugly but on a Griff you'd be a laughing stock.

I've got LED bulbs in all the headlamps and just passed the MOT with them in.

I'm pleased to hear the Sportmotive upgrade to bigger lamps and H4 bulbs includes a wiring upgrade. Have you seen the wires feeding the headlamps? I fitted better wire for my Ring doorbell.

Had MK3 7" units fitted four years ago by TVR Central as part of a large upgrade. They work well and no MOT issues.

I wasn't going to do it just wondered now these upgrade options exist if anyone had done it. I've been out of the game for years (Until last week I hadn't logged on to PH in about 10 years!)

Those bigger 7" lights look great, I think that's the best option to keep the design as close to the original concept.

I'm booked in with Sportmotive this summer to get the conversion done.

You could fit the halo headlights legally if a normal halogen bulb is fitted. The headlamp washer fitment is wrong as some early 90’s jap cars had hid headlamps without washers fitted. Manufacturers added them to justify the massive cost to have that option fitted, but technically you do need headlight level motors.
Although if you own a 40 year old classic you can fit hid or led without level motors or even wothout the correct projector lense.
If you fit hid they are available in different temperature colours. Fit the bulbs that give a more yellow/white light rather than the blue/white version and mot man will be happy.

Another vote for the 7 inch upgrade. There are a few options out there but for me I wanted to retain the original look and a big plus being an OEM TVR fit to the SE Griffs.

They are a great upgrade in terms of light output and it is great having an additional set of full beams as the driving lamps are a little too low to illuminate the road ahead in my experience.
