The market isnt great at the moment for any toys really, covid saw a large spike in prices but it all seems to have come crashing down this year in particular.
I do still see cars selling though but i do find it a bit odd, a tidy 430 Griff was up for sale privately iirc for around £15k for quite a while, it then re appeared at a dealer for just under £20k and sold quickly.
With a car that has such a terrible reputation, I believe people will pay a fair bit more for the comfort of dealer support. I’m not saying the reputation is correct, but it is there.
The way these cars are used that's probably a dozen drives in reality.
£5k is a decent fund for potential fixes though, so I see your point.

Although...driving in the snow is not for the faint hearted!
Do you have a 'man' do all your repairs?
300k miles without having to get the dash off either a Griff or a Chimaera, not even for an instrument failure or its illumination therein would take some beating! I've had to replace the alarm / immobiliser on 2 cars and also recover a poor dashboard, changing the lamps for coloured leds. Also to retrieve the wiring for the stereo.
I waited for it to melt:

If aimed at me I do all my own work on my current L405 Range Rover & restored a BMW 635CSi. So the tech in a Griffith isn’t daunting.Plus a good friend of mind runs a garage and has had numerous TVRs.
So pretty comfortable that maintaining it won’t be a struggle. In fact, one of the attractions of the Griffith is the fact that I much prefer the multimeter era to the code reader era of vehicle diagnostics.
Less to go wrong & you can test & trace all the circuits.
Im sure you will love the experience, they suit owners that can do their own work really but most of the niggles should be sorted by now as they are normally enthusiast owned.
As someone who is considering a return myself i dont think i could justify the extra £10k to buy one over a Chim but thats just me, i lke how both cars look so im kind of on the fence there.

Sorry, I should have mentioned it was for 2 smoking barrels, who said he's never had the dashboard off either car in 300k miles!
I agree with you though, I can trace faults too on a car with more basic functionality.
All I've ever done is check the oil.I agree with you though, I can trace faults too on a car with more basic functionality.
I got quite adept at bypassing out the otter switch. Other than that (maybe swap the odd relay) I can't think of anything.
Ah..I have filled the screen wash.

28 services in 72k miles and 24 years shows some attention to maintenance. Nice colour too.
