I have been told that I have at least one broken or worn slipper pad. From what I understand it's a type of shim at the valve end of the rocker arm and it is quite common that they fail. There seems to be two options, first to get it or all the pads replaced, and second, to get different rocker shafts that do not use slipper pads. Has anyone had any experience with either, and are the new shafts worth the expense?

I've never heard of them - are they similar to an overhead under hanger.

Similar but slightly larger and obviously more expensive
