My cars not running right, see other post lol

So I thought I'd upgrade my ignition system, I bought a new Bosch Coil (well 2 by mistake - so if you want a brand new Bosch coil I have one £35 + postage, which is cheap) anyway. I'm guessing these with have an internal ballast resistor.

bought a Mallory distributor but it has 3 wires that come out of the side, I only have 2 on mine. Do you know what the 3rd is for? Ballast resistor/earth/something else?

I'll have this info somewhere but need time to find it. I'll look tomorrow for my notes. If you need a quicker answer Real Steel should be able to help.

I'm going to try and fit this today, guessing the brown wire is just an earth, even though there is already a green earth to the coil?

But that is the "switched" earth.

The brown one would just be making sure the distributor is earthed properly.

Right, almost done it. My problem (actually my brain :-D) was trying to rewire the distributor to my ignition amplifier, but I believe the Mallory has it built in.

RPi sell a Mallory distributor kit that comprises of: Distributor/Coil/ballast resistor.

I've just bought a new Bosch coil Standard part - PRC6574)

My question is: does this coil have an internal ballast resistor or do I need to buy one?

The cars in bits off the road so if you could help that would be great, cheers.

Coils don't have internal ballast resistors they just run at different voltages.

I would buy the correct coil and ballast that comes with the kit otherwise you could be asking for trouble.

OK cheers for the info, I'll try and get them asap. I just bought 2 new coils too! lol

I'll stick them on ebay, unless anyone wants one? £35 + postage (Bosch) go for between £45-49 on ebay.
