I like the idea of publicising scrotes' names and addresses to as many people as possible. Let them be looking over their shoulders nervously.

It is fair to say that the Police get fed up seeing the same culprits time and again. So they have their own way of dishing out justice:

I was woken up one evening when I stayed at my Mum's in Manchester - by noises in the garden. Looked out the window to see a copper and an Alsation patrolling the gardem. Suddenly, police cars everywhere and a helicopter arrived. They set 3 dogs loose who promptly found a car thief hiding out underneath my Mum's car at the side of the house. I reckon those dogs took some big chunks out of him before they were called off. He was then cuffed - hands behind the back - and literally thrown into the back of a police van landing on his face. I felt like cheering and applauding.

Another true story I have heard is the Pink Rabbit. Namely, a particular police station (that I will not name) locks up the scrotes in the cell. Then, anonymous police man puts on a Pink Rabbit costume and gets 10 minutes in the cell to give the scrote a really good leathering. If the defendant complains about the way he has been treated, all he can say was that it was a 6' tall Pink Rabbit that did the damage.

THIS IS A TRUE STORY!
The father of a work collegue of mine has one of those mobil camper van things and lives in Liverpool. He came out of the house one morning, and beside the camper van, on the floor was vomit which had a blue coloured hue to it. Some tosser had tried to syphon the petrol tank but got the chemical toilet instead!! How sick is that? (Okay so it doesn't involve justice to someone who tried to nick a car, but it's still worth telling I thought!)

A terrible thing that happened and one likely never to be justified.. Perhaps a good thought to have is these people who tried were not doing it to sell, they were doing it to drive... A Griff 500 in a numpty's hands is very likely to have caused a big smash with themselves (no loss) but probably someone else! Nobody wants to know their car caused a fatal accident.

I cannot even afford mine yet, and try everything to save/justify for that special day... I cannot think what I would do if it happened to me.

Onced moved and somewhere else, you really must get back in that saddle... The Griff deserves it.. RIP..

Hilarious, and utterly gross - didn't know whether to laugh or retch

Its a great story, but I've heard it several times before.

Either it has happened several times in several countries (possible) or its an urban myth (also possible).

Either way though, its still a great story.

Justice - about 9 years ago we were woken up at 3am by the police. They'd seen 2 gits trying to nick my dads car, arrived just as they were about to break the steering lock off. The police were mob handed - 2 car's and a dog van!, so they gave chase and sent in the dogs!. One gave up realy easy the other kept running.
We were listening to the plod's radio in our house as he was taking the statement, and heard that they'd got the other one. The dog handler was asked if the kid needed medical attention - to which his reply was "I wouldn't bother - but a doctor might say otherwise!!!!!"

Fantastic - let the dogs have 'em!!

The reason the police were mob handed was they'd already tried to nick three cars in the surrounding roads an hour earlier!! - not the brightest of villans!!

'The car will be kept garaged and blocked in by another car overnight (it will be with me during the day).'

I haven't read all 8 pages so this might have been said already - but TVRCC sell special locks for garages. Trouble is, thieves might see the extra big locks and think - hey, there's something valuable in there. But parking another car behind it works for me - if they can shift a fully immobilised BMW 7-Series and then steal a very loud Griff 500 with no-one noticing, they almost deserve it.

With regards to the extra big lock thing.

There was a guy in Dagenham (I think) who had an Astra GTE, not too flash, but he liked it. To deter thieves he had two padlocks welded to the drive floor, two alarms, a security light and a coupla other things that I cannot remember, and went to the papers to show how well protected his car was.. Red rag to a bull, two days later it was nicked.

Only just seen the photos.... Feck me that's sickening!!

If they ever catch the scrotes I'm up for a PH linch mob.

The law isn't going to do anything but if these people realise that TVR owners won't put up with this sh*t maybe they'll think again.

God I can't believe how p*ssed off this makes me!!

Kenneth, just got back from a weeks hols and seen the pictures....its all been said already but these people are mindless idiots who don't give a damn about how it affects you and all the hassle it leaves you with.

What a waste of a beautiful car and you have my sincere hopes that the insurers don't mess you about and a new Griff is the final outcome.

Just seen the pictures, and heard your story, I'm so sorry mate. Thank god you weren't hurt. Let us all know if they catch the scum that did this.

On different note, I think in the UK there is quite a lot of antagonism against owners of exotic cars ceratinly compared to other countries.

My family used to own a TVR there is something special associated with ownership, and a sense of belonging to a club that cares! its great to hear all the messages of support amongst fellow drivers!

Regards

Chris

Just come to this link late (been on holiday) and I thought that I was having a bad time. My vectra is somewhere near Geneva (broken down) and I spent the 34 hours with 4 hours sleep trying to get back to the UK. The TVR is bust with an ECU failure - didnt think it could be worse, but I am afraid that it could with a burnt out Griffith....

So sorry and my deepest sympathy. At least you are insured and have protected NCB (I think I noticed this earlier). From what the chaps with Tamoras say, they are cracking and worth a try at least....

I hope everything works out and that you manage to replace the Griffith with something that you like / want / love - there is a real sense of achievement when you get what you really want, but replacement is never quite the same.....

So sorry and good luck - keep us posted as to what you do...

Cheers,

Paul
