russel I joined this after finding your build, amazing! really inspirational.

just how much experience and time have you spent on rebuilding cars? you seem to have an answer for everything and considerable speed too.

I've got a mini stripped in my wooden garage and you've got me wishing i'd knocked it down and built and a good purposeful garage.

so jealous

Thanks.

This is the first full project I have done, I have worked in the motor trade for 15+ years. I had an old wooden garage for years that I hated going out to work in & knew that without building a decent garage I would never spend the time required on a project car. A warm, dry well lit garage with a decent radio was all the motivation I needed to get going though smile I haven't been working to a deadline with this project so if something hasn't turned out how I wanted I just started again or left it till I had a better idea then went back & changed it.

Bought A 10" universal cooling fan, a radiator fan switch with m22 x 1.5 thread & a standard 4 pin relay & set about making up my auxiliary cooling fan. Did all the wiring & fitted the fan switch into the radiator then made up a couple of brackets to fit the cooling fan, next up was strip down the fan prime & paint it. Then finally put everything together & test it. Works great smile

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Mini is sitting safely tucked up on the garage. The new v5 with the correct engine size and colour on it has finally arrived but I think I will wait till spring now till I put it on the road.

That gives me plenty of time to sort out the minor things that still need dealt with.

Went out and spent a couple of hours on the mini today. Over the last few weeks I noticed that my electric cooling fan was running constantly with the engine rather than cutting in and out as its should. So after a quick bit of diagnostic work it was diagnosed as a faulty coolant temperature sensor. Replaced it & its all working properly again. I also rerouted some of the front end wiring loom as it was sometimes fouling on one of the bonnet hinges. Then started the car and left it running outside for half an hour while I swept out the garage.

Not a major update but im easing myself back into finishing the mini smile

Oh and took a couple of quick pictures too.

It really does look bloody lovely mate.

Even if some of the style choices aren't how I'd do it, there is absolutely no doubt that every job has been done in the best possible way. I'm super jealous of the project and wish I had half the skills you do. Nice job.

Thanks for the compliment, the world would be a boring place if we all made the same style choices smile

4 month bump!!!!!!

Did you ever get it MOT'd Russell?

Just wanted to ask how your getting on with the facet fuel pump mounted on the bulkhead? I have a solid state one for the Van now and want to mount it in the same place. Not on the rear subframe as most are. I was reading the instructions (dangerous I know) and it say to mount it no further than 12" from the fuel tank.

Mot & insurance will be sorted within the next few weeks. Other things have got in the way recently that have taken priority.

My fuel pumps been fine but I stayed clear of the solid state type as they need to be mounted near the tank to work properly.

Russell - Did you fit the headlining after the rollcage? Just curious as to how difficult this is!

I put the headlining in then the roll cage. The headlinings a tricky job to do right & I don't think I could have done it with the cage already in place.

Looks good Russell...

I'd have thought that the induction noise might have been a bit louder on twin SU's though?

Might just be the mic mind you.

Cheers smile

It is a fair bit louder than it sounds in the video, your probably spot on about the rubbish phone mic used to record it. Plus it gets a lot louder once its on cam smile
