I’m probably wrong, but I got the impression that they aren’t disposing of the body entirely, just easier to replace the damaged marine ply with the body off the chassis.

So repair the body then it goes back on th chassis again.

Knowing their approach to things, they'd probably insist on using gold to mark joins - even on a thing that size...

You are all wrong.

They are currently buying up scrap carbon fibre off cuts, old carbon bike frame, fishing rods and QC failed carbon parts.
Then they are going to build a shredding machine.

Next step is to start making forged carbon sheet using an old bathtub and a mangle.

The forged carbon will add strength and be lighter than the ply.

For the roof they'll integrate solar cells into the forged carbon.

Next episode in 2032.

I can imagine the hours that went in to that.

The chipboard was a bit odd, that would have been a perfect job for a 3d printed prototype.

Same here, just a joy to watch a mind work in a problem and come up with ingenious solutions. I was 90% there on the geometry of how it all went together but seeing the finished article on the block of wood just brought it home how ingenious and cunning it was to find a solution that looked so simple but must have taken an age to figure out! As always the time flies by and I'm left grasping for more.
