What identity will the car use when it's done, is it going through an IVA to get it road legal or will it just be a track toy ?

IVA i’d imagine, they’ve said a couple of times it’s a road car.

I suspect that the build would have looked very different if it was intended to 'just be a track toy'

Be interesting to see it once it is finished, very high quality work, good that they are going to go to the trouble of making it road legal, though I suppose after the amount of work they have put into it they will want to use it as much as they can.

Brilliant as always.

The attention to detail is amazing. Door caps on a Mini whatever next.

It really really must be close to being stipped down and off to paint now.

As for the running gear and engine, that too is surely due some grit blastage and powder coating soon also.

As for the u-pol weld through, how has that stood up over the years the project has been going? I've used it on inner sections when fitting sills and the like but obviously don't know how it is long term. Seems like it is doing well on Binky. And the smell of that stuff is lush.

The 6x9's.... C pillar pods? Just enough room there I'd say.

the amount of 1.5 alley in that interior is comical but brilliant!

I didn’t understand the need for the ‘door caps’ at the top?

I reckon they are going in the companion boxes, th exposed studs holding the lower edge of the trim panel are not very Nik, but could be hidden nicely by some speakers.

Gonna confuse the hell out of everyone and buy a cheap MDF board off eBay to mount them under the rear seat

Having had a Mini myself two things spring to mind;

1, Even with the lowly A series, mine had an RC40 with a 4-1 manifold exhaust and Oselli torquemaster inlet manfold and a K&N, that was very noisy and a very loud stereo would have been needed to drown that lot out, sadly at the time car stereos were a bit crap and were not loud enough or mine wasn't. With the toyscroata engine and turbot it is going to be louder still, so why bother. Have the engine as the soundtrack of your life instead!

2, That if "quality" front speakers are fitted and are amped then rears are not really neccessary at all in a car the size of a Mini. What would be better than the 6x9's would be a descrete subwoofer which could be quite little if done properly. The companion box(es) could be made into some rather nice sub enclosers

But as always (after sniffing some more u-pol weld through and a few teas), no doubt something far more elegant, "welded" and cleverer than a mere mortal could imagine is likely to happen.

Damn it all, but I've only just found this thread. And now I've wasted my evening constructively educated myself by watching episodes 1 to 17 back to back!

Not long to catch up now though...

Where is the smug smilie…

hehe

I wonder how far in advance they have actually planned, because in the last video, they mention something going under the drivers seat, and getting Alpine to knock up a remote facia head unit can't have all happened since the last video.

You were correct!

Another perfect way to spend a half hour. I'm off to watch the additional videos on the alternator drive setup now...

The headunit setup, genius

Looking forward to the engine surprises as promised in the very first post on page 1 way back in 2013.

In terms of visual media and the ranking thereof;

1, Pron
2, Project Binky, which is also pron
3, Game of trombones
4, Breaking wind
5, Star trek, all of it.
6, Rhoald Dahls Tales of the unexpected with that dancing woman on the titles which looked a bit pron when I was a nipper and was allowed to stay up and watch it.
