Hi folks,

I’m after advice on my wheel studs please. I want to change my wheels for some with a greater offset to narrow the track and bring them a bit more inboard. The current wheels have sleeved nuts and thin studs, is this standard or will I need to have the studs changed if I change the wheels? Pics attached...

Thanks.

Studs are likely fine, those nuts would be an oddity for those specific wheels.

Thanks. I’m looking at these, I presume I’ll need different nuts though

As already said....your current wheel nuts are an oddity for those specific wheels

Any wheels you buy, will need suitable wheel nuts.

Ah, sorry got the wrong end of the stick, I read it that my current nuts shouldn’t be used with my current wheels! Thanks for your help 👍🏼

I would double check that those alloy replicas of S wheels will sit further in than the wheels you already have, some of them are designed to work with the larger disc and calliper set ups, not the 7.5's (assuming you have this sort of 'S' set up plus spacered drums on the rear, or do you have drums all round?) so they sit out further even though they look like option 4.5 S wheels

I bought some studs from a Mini specialist last week and was told there's only 1 type

OP - tantalising glimpses of a rather nicely modified Clubbie you have there, I’d love to see more of it smile

Only one type of stud? I suppose that's correct its only the length that varies

No,the ones they supplied were longer than the ones I was replacing and when I queried it I was told there were no other options, unless they meant they only sold the 1 length

There are always other options....whether they're a direct fit for original is another matter.

Thanks for your advice everyone, I've ended up ordering some Minilights with offset for the disk brakes, which I think will do the trick and should look the part too :-)

A couple more pics...

Very nice, thanks for posting those. Deseaming isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I’m rather partial to it, and the grille mod is a nice touch that looks well executed smile
