Mini 30 - Restoration Question

Evening all,



I'm restoring a Mini 30 (1989) and wondering what the part below in the pic does, and where it should be mounted in the engine bay. Managed to take lots of pics of the engine bay prior to restoration, but this part isnt on any...



We've also got a new loom, and the plug on the new loom doesnt match up to the plug on this part - is there a newer part we can get that will fit the new loom, or should we splice in the old connector to the loom?

Any help appreciated!

On my 1989 Mini it's on the passenger side on the vertical bit in front of the subframe bolt. Between the radiator and the inner wing but the opposite side to the wiper motor. It is the dim/dip resistor so you will need it.

Guessing I can just change the plug on the new loom which is square for the one on the old which is round, plug in and we're good to go ?
