How fast is a quick mini?

I like the plot, what hardware/software is that? GTech something-or-other? Looks pretty cool. Car is pretty quick too!

Out of interest, on Saturday I took a series of 0-60 times for my 1964 'S' rally car.
Using 1st, 2nd and 3rd and changing up at 6000, I got an average reading over 3 runs of 8.4 secs.
Using only 1st and 2nd, and changing into second at 6400 I got an average of 7.5 seconds with a best of 7.4 seconds.
I wish I had done a 0-90 time, but the road was not deserted even though it was not busy, so I'll leave that until late an night on a deserted straight lane.
That's the first time I've timed it since it was 1293 cc and now it's 1310 and rebuilt (again!).

My 1380 rallycros mini had around 100BHP at the wheels and weighed in less than 500Kg. With big sticky slicks and LSD, it could get to 60 in around 5.5 seconds, the low top speed was of course limited by the 4.3 diff ratio, but you never got to 8000rpm in top on the track anyway.

Hi Chris, how did you get yours so light? Our ex mini-crosser weighs in at 570 with very similar spec to above.

Ours is putting out a little more power though and will top out at 8,100 in top with a 3.9 diff so about 110~115mph.

Ours is putting out a little more power though and will top out at 8,100 in top with a 3.9 diff so about 110~115mph.

I quess the biggest saving was at the rear, no subframe just a very lightwejght mounting for the coilover trailing arms, no boot floor, plastic lid. It was great for changing tyres, one person would lift up the corner and another would swap wheels.

Doors were only skins, plastic windows, removable front end, small fuel tank under the bonnet, alloy crossflow rad, no generator, small battery (start off slave).

My minicrossers were heavy by comparison.

My 16v mini does around 6 sec to 60mph due to traction being biggest issue but that's not what's the best thing about it. It feels fast all the time. Every gear pulls like 1st gear all the way to 120mph when my fear kicks in. Only car ive never been tempted to see how fast it would go. 7200rpm in 5th would be 137mph. All minis feel fast but a fast mini feels scary in my opinion. I have k series 140bhp and 5 speed gear box
