I love a canvas top & had one on mine for tenish odd years, looked great, then about three years ago I changed to a cab roof & in all honestly I wouldn't go back. So much nicer in the cold & so much easier to load the back up with stuff. Downside is of course the summer with the cab roof being a pain to remove.
Got to say I found the opposite, truck cab was sooo noisy when the tilt went on it seemed very quite.

My Dad's 88" Series One now has a hard-top fitted, I think it is noisier at lower speeds than the canvas roof it used to have. I guess this is because the canvas roof would absorb the mechanical noise whereas the metal one reflects it and also vibrates a bit. Fitting dynamat would help with this but then it looks a bit messy unless trimmed.

Once road speeds increase past 40mph the canvas roof is noisier (more so when dry and it can flap about) because of wind noise.

I used to drive one of those as a ‘company car’.

More information please?

I remember reading that one. An SA import? With a 6 cyl motor?

Yep that’s the one! Mine is SA’s 50th, which mainly meant leather interior, loud paint job and shiny bumpers

There is actually one for sale in SA which is apparently being sold by a friend of a friend here:

https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-cars-bakkies/city-cent...

Apparently it needs a fair bit of work but pretty cheap for a collectible Defender!

The non 50ths are cheaper, I’m actually bringing a 110 over at the moment and landed it will be about the same as a TD5 in similar nick. I’m thinking about bringing a couple back regularly as a lot of my friends are interested in them, drop me a PM if you genuinely fancy one at some point!

Thanks - I'd seen that one. There's also a white one on Autotrader.

I just have to move house first, then see what funds are left laugh
