All ready and waiting for me to make a start on. It needs a lot of work. Sadly, Richards Chassis have closed for the time being. The chassis was initially due by the beginning of May, but who knows when it will be here.
I've got plenty to be getting on with. There is a Cummins 6BT that needs cleaning up and testing before the chassis arrives.

Is the 6BT being installed in that 110?

That's the plan. I'm planning to keept it looking as totally stock as possible as I like the rare Shire Blue and the Wolf wheels. It was originally a 1989 Turbo Diesel and it has a 200TDi transplant at the moment.
What are you replacing the 'Rover 5-speed with, an NV4500 or similar? Different axles too?I'd guess the front would be close to GVW when the vehicle is unladen.
Never understood the desire to put a 500kg slow-revving engine in a Land-Rover but each to their own, this is Pistonheads after all!
Because torque and they sound nice.
You keep the 5 speed ZF gearbox from the DAF and use the LT230 transfer with an adapter plate and 1:1 gearing. Salisbury rear axle is fine and the Rover front will be OK if not used in anger too much - this one won't be going off road - I have my 300TDi 90 for that.

Be careful with front axle mass though - the 6BT is around 500kg which is some 200 more than a TDi.
The vehicles have a plated mass limit and the only recourse you have to increase that (if close to the limit) is fitting a Salisbury axle as used on armoured Land-Rovers. The VIN / type approval) plate on the brake pedal assembly has the masses (mine has a bit broken off) but front axle is listed as 1200kg which I would guess is MAM (maximum allowable mass).

It's only four pages, but quite picture heavy. Thanks for the interest though.
Most likely people read every word and save your pictures to help with their own build as you've been so explanatory & detailed It's only four pages, but quite picture heavy. Thanks for the interest though.

You don't actually gain all that much on the front as the heaviest parts are at the rear (well behind the front axle) so it gets shared across the rear also. I'm also not planning on installi g anything other than a standard front bumper. No winches, big wheels and tyres etc. Be careful with front axle mass though - the 6BT is around 500kg which is some 200 more than a TDi.

What sort of power does that variant make? Aren’t they around 170-190hp? Can they be tuned the same as the ones in the Dodge Ram?You keep the 5 speed ZF gearbox from the DAF and use the LT230 transfer with an adapter plate and 1:1 gearing. I personally love the Cummins. But also never really understood fitting them in a Land Rover. But like I never understood why people fitted the Detroit Diesel V8 either. Not bad engines if you buy a truck with them factory fitted. But in terms of engine swaps. A Td5 will do 200hp or a 4.6 Rover V8.
This one came from a 130 DAF. Intercooler makes it 150ish. I'm not after power and I dont like the TD5 due to its electronics, as simple as they may be. I want a fully mechanical engine. It's why I bought my 300TDi as a daily driver.
Don't get me wrong, I was very tempted to source a 4.6, but I've done the V8 thing and I love the way the Cummins sounds.

I bought this last month, so far I've sourced standard arms, fitted poly bushes and standard height HD springs. They're going on next weekend.
Then a set off 33 x 12.5 x r15 tyres, as I like the wide, but not so much the high.
Very much like the patina, galv cappings are on the cards, I'm currently struggling to find early galv door capings which were decorative on the one piece doors.
It's a 200tdi and will be for use at the parents place in SW France Bergerac.
It's not even rusty!!

Patina. The most abused and misused word in the motoring world Then a set off 33 x 12.5 x r15 tyres, as I like the wide, but not so much the high.

33’s are pretty tall. You’ll need a tweaked Tdi to pull them well or consider a Re-gear. Also possible to become diff breakers off road. Also watch your brakes, it won’t stop anywhere near as well with them. (Not sure tyres are in the pic. They look fairly fat and big)
You might also want to re-consider HD springs unless you plan to haul a lot. They tend ruin the ride and usually reduce flex, making it more prone to lifting wheels off the ground when off road.
Looks good otherwise
OK i'm up for it. I had many LRs in the past, but now I am spearheading the FL2.
I've have had this vehicle for over 4yrs. It has a Bundatec roof top tent and OzTent 'wet tent', two full awnings.
The vehicle has a swing-away spare wheel carrier and a slide out floor, which has kitchen fridge, cooker and food storage.
I use this vehicle on road (and off road) trips for 6 months of the year. Been all over Europe, but not this year.
will post more pics if people interested.
