Does upping the exhaust on a boggo petrol engined Series Landy make any real difference? My local Landy bloke says not much. Mine still has a peashooter exhaust
Biggest improvement area on a Rover 2286 is the cylinder head - have a look at the ACR CNC-ported cylinder heads they offer.I put an ACR "Powerplus" cylinder head on the 2286 petrol in my dad's 88" along with the SU carburetter inlet manifold. The cylinder head was also skimmed to raise the compression ratio. It pulls very nicely now even with the standard exhaust system.
First foray into Land Rover Ownership, wife had an A1 (first car) but wanted a Range and business is decent so swapped it for this. Total vanity, she drives about 1000 miles a year but I've became quite fond of it. Merc was a panic buy for me earlier in the year when my company car went back and will hopefully change for a 911 if business continues or a pair of comfortable walking boots if not.

It'll make it a lot louder, but not do much for power. The engine is designed for low end grunt and a bit of mid range. Breathing mods will all add up though, but won't give any real benefit unless you are changing the cam and some head work.300bhp/ton said:

Photo is a bit disingenuous as the bow wave gives the impression of being deeper than it was (mind you it was still around two feet deep) but no, it didn't get any deeper than what you can see. Imagine bricking an RRS in water though, doesn't bear thinking about! Have a short clip somewhere, will see if I can post it up.
