Seems to be on the cover of every motoring magazine this week and looks like a rather nice alternative to the F Pace I was considering.

Interested to hear if anyone here has one on order and what "real world" delivery dates they are being quoted. CAR magazine claims a waiting list, but is that seriously the case?

Reluctant to contact a dealer as I know I'll get the usual "selling like hotcakes, card details now or regret forever more" salesman spiel!

Saw it on Saturday and it's a real step up from the F-Pace.

They couldn't give a waiting time for orders and that was the factory.

read in this forum somewhere last week that they had ordered a Velar. Delivery was Sept '17.
How that relates to waiting list I'm not sure. That said, I would be amazed if there wasn't a waiting list.

As a side note, would seem Disco 5 deliveries are ramped up - counted 5x new D5's this weekend around my high street!

Mate of mine put his deposit down 3 weeks ago for delivery in November, dealer has no allocation left for this year apparently.

I sell new Land Rovers. We have taken 12 deposits on cars. At the moment, the deposit is to secure a build slot (although you can now spec a car on the JLR website). Orders placed now will probably be in their cars September/October. Order a car in September when the cars land at the dealers and you will be probably looking at late Q1 2018. Having said that, my guess is that demand will push the waiting times to 6 months. More a case of managing expectations than spiel. biggrin

That's access mode with air suspension. It's more 'normal' on springs.

For anyone interested I saw a Velar on the road this weekend, it was a sandy metallic colour I'd have to say that I preferred the rear to the front. It looks like a stretched Evoque, more like an estate car than an SUV but quite striking.

I often see pre-launch JLR motors locally, think there must be a senior engineer or management type living in the area.

I ordered one back in Feb or March. The dealer is chasing me for specs. I can get it in September.

I have since bought a Full Fat Autobiography and not sure I was to "Step down" to a Velar?

Wondering if it may be worth purchasing, to try and sell for a profit? Do you think I could make a few quid?

All signs are pointing towards these selling at a premium for at least 6 months. First few cars to pop up I imagine will be anywhere from £5k to £10k over list.

Question is... how likely are you to want to buy another JLR product in the near future? They are just as hot on stamping out resellers as the sports car manufacturers. I know of several people who, after being black listed, thought they would just stroll into a different dealership only to be shown the door as well.

So what happens if you buy one and genuinely hate it but manage to sell it for £5k more than you paid for it? biggrin

Firstly, you could do what you do when you receive something from Amazon and don't like it (return it for a full refund). The automotive parallel to this would be selling it back to them for the price paid.

Failing that, you do as per the terms of the Contract of Sale which you would have signed - i.e. "account to the dealer for any profit made If the vehicle is sold within the first 6 months".

Most manufacturers have this clause.

Depends on the dealer - in the London region you can't get one until March/April next year now.....

There was one being shown on a car brokers list at list price cancelled order deliver Sep 1st

Having looked at the one in Canary Wharf, it looks great but I thought for an 85k at launch edition spec car the interior was pretty cheap in places. Also smaller than sport inside, rear legroom

Guess that don't matter considering all the Launch Edition cars are now sold! Madness redface

My local (Essex) dealer has firm orders for 80x Velar's. Their initial allocation is 50x cars this calendar year.......

Certainly agree with the interior, leather feeling and looking cheap. That said the Velar I had some time with was pre-production, the LR guy did say various items would likely change before production starts at the end of June.
I thought the new infotainment system is great and will no doubt make it's way into the other RR models over time.
Looking at the Velar next to a RRS, the current RRS did look a little dated.....

Anyone know if there are any physically in showrooms to view yet? I missed the mini UK-tour specifically in Battersea to see one in the flesh. Thanks
