Discovery 5- What a joke
Discussion
Put a deposit down on a new Disco 5 several months ago. Delivery due March 2017, still no sign of the vehicle. Keep in touch with the dealer, keep getting 'Landrover can't give a delivery date' but should be anytime soon.
The order will be cancelled next week, spending the day looking at some alternative German cars. This will be a novelty as have only ever purchased British cars and bikes. Looks like a reverse Brexit.

But this moan isn't about a car at all - it's about the delivery. There are challenges as above (and maybe another on 2 litre) but if a late delivery is enough for you to cancel the delivery go for it. I'm JLR so bound to be biased but borrowed a fresh out the box Disco to come to Cornwall this week and my family want me to cancel my Range Rover to get one next. It is absolutely stunning, near five hour trip with ease and is faultless. Delays are bad, I get that, but once you have it you will love it.
And after seeing some on the roads, I still love the Volvo's but my god they look awful from the back!

LandRover have a bizarre way of handling orders. It was a massive problem with the current RangeRover - it's like they prioritise certain customers (VIPs?) and markets and if looks like there's going to be any spare capacity then they might enter your order.macar said:

Have you ordered with a Towbar, because I know they are having trouble getting them and there a a few guys on Disco3forum who are still waiting for theirs.
No towbar- I heard that rumour as well.Pintofbest said:

I can appreciate that the Disco 5 is hopefully a nice car and may justify me placing a order last year, but that's no use to me if I can't get delivery of mine. I've had Landrover Disco's and Defenders for the last 20 years but don't appreciate waiting 6 weeks longer than the quoted delivery date. May now hang onto the Disco 4, tell the dealer to poke the car and buy a toy for the garage, And after seeing some on the roads, I still love the Volvo's but my god they look awful from the back!

Have a look at the Volvo XC90, lovely thing and will be my next steed.
I can recommend that as an option (As for rear end styling, I actually quite like it! Looks better with round tail pipes. It's certainly better than the D5. Agree it's not as chunky as a D4 if you want that sort of thing).

I'm a diehard Land Rover fanatic, but the new Disco has to be one of the laziest and worst penned cars of the modern age.

I am a D4 owner and did dislike the overall shape of the D5, but after seeing and having a good look over one in the showroom i changed my mind. The car was in Loire Blue and from the front it looked awesome fantastic chunky presence, look down the side brilliant, but then the back, it is woefull. I then walked outside and there was a white one, to me it looks a totally different car, the C pillar looks like a blade slashing through the dark glass the whole thing in white reminds me of a Double cab pickup with a cab back, just awful.I'm a diehard Land Rover fanatic, but the new Disco has to be one of the laziest and worst penned cars of the modern age.

Have to agree the Volvo looks a pigs ear from the rear
I guess we all different. As a D4 owner the D5 leaves me hugely disappointed, the rear is absolutely terrible whereas the XC90 is a very resolved shape. I will be looking at that next or downsizing if i decide to keep the D4 longer than normal.Gassing Station | Land Rover | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
