A good friend and his colleague have a new Disco 5 First Edition & RRS (both less than 3 months old). The Disco is suffering from significant wind noise around the drivers door & the RRS is having DPF issues - neither of which the supplying dealer seems to be able to sort satisfactorily. Both cars have been back in several times & it turns out from talking to others that the issues aren't just on their cars. The RRS has had to be "assisted" by LR Assistance three times.

Has anyone else had similar issues & particularly on the Disco, got them resolved satisfactorily - the dealer is almost at a loss on the wind noise & the suspicion is that the door seals aren't big enough. It's clear that LR are now selling so many cars, that their customer care has gone by the way & as both have had numerous premium 4x4s previously, they're taken aback by the ineffective customer care. I'm all for supporting JLR though it seems they need to get their act together in some ways.

This is the problem with my one, the rubber seals on both sides are not glued in properly.

It really is disgraceful that a car costing so much money can pass through quality control with such faults.

Thanks for the responses - my friends car is in with the dealer for the 2nd or 3rd time & supposedly awaiting a super tech from LR to quality test it. There had been talk of the actual door seals maybe being too small though until they've fixed it, we won't know what they've had to do - once they've fixed it, I'll post what they've done.

FWIW, if it wasn't for the wind noise, the fact a piece of room trim & wheel arch detached & some glitches with the Nav, he'd be as please as punch with it. His dealer hasn't exactly helped in being efficient in getting it fixed as they're overrun with work.

There's nothing when I last looked on the Disco5 forum by the way.

Update as of 07.06.17 - after my friend kicked up a proper rumpus with the DP at the supplying dealer, they replaced the front door seals plus a couple of pieces of interior trim on the A posts that were casualties of the earlier repair & I'm advised the wind noise has gone at last around the front doors thumbup

Having never been in the car in question, I'm looking forward to be chauffeured to Le Mans next week to see how good the car really is!

Update 08.06.17 - this is like a pantomime....it's fixed. No it isn't! A different day and probably 5-6C cooler and I've heard from my friend the whistling noise was back this morning sadly. Direct manufacturer contact is now taking place (& not with the customer team), so I watch with interest how it goes. Strangely the one courtesy car (another new Disco) apparently didn't have the same fault scratchchin

Interesting post.

I had a loan Range Rover SDV8 with less than 3000 miles on it and there was horrendous whistling from around the top of the windscreen! Deafening over 100.

Sort it out LR! Hope your friend manages to find a solution.

Update - factory recall for the wind noise on the drivers' side of my friends car just been announced. Ironically they'd had another go at fixing it before we went to the LM24 and below motorway speeds it was ok.

It turns out the parts they were using for replacement are the same as those it has on it originally and they've now got an updated part for the A post that'll be replaced in the next few weeks.

Putting aside the early minor quality issues, it's an impressive car IMO and my friend agreed that there isn't anything else really as a 7 str in its price range he'd have as the Cayenne is too in your face, the Q7 looks "fat" & the X5 isn't a standard 7 str. It was impressive 6 up in France with "daily supplies" & certainly attracted attention whilst there & the only other one we saw was a lower spec'd version.

Update time - my friend is due to change his car imminently & I'll update once it's happened, though he's not had a good time with his Launch Edition model as its seriously throwing a fit or two as the days go by on various things. Last weekend the electric boot failed to shut amongst other things.

I hope other forum members are having a better time with their cars?

My friend is now about 4 weeks into owning a brand new HSE Luxury to replace his Launch Edition. The supplying dealer rolled their sleeves up in the end to keep his custom to assist & LR found a car in build destined for their own use to save him waiting that broadly to his spec. The new car is a much better one than the first & he admits the ride on the slightly smaller wheels is worth the slight loss of street cred!

I'm in a dilemma as MrsC is just about to test/order a new SUV through work & it looks like either a Disco Sport or an F Pace & I hope we don't experience the same misfortune.

The word is that quality control seems to be suffering as they're struggling to supply the demand.

Two mates have problems with their brand new SVR and SVA. SVR has a non functioning panoramic roof and SVA can't pick up any radio stations.

My MY15 RRS is pretty much perfect after 30k miles and so was the SVR owners previous MY13 RRS.

Hope they manage to sort themselves out.

Indeed it's a volume issue that the factory are apparently struggling with where cars are passing quality checks that should never get close to seeing a customer. The cars are then left to the dealers to try & sort out.
