Just got out after a 640 mile drive with a single hour long break. No aches, no pains, no shifting in the seat, 30mpg at at steady 85mpg (Holland, Belgium, France).

Now up to 57k miles and I love it more than ever not least of all for having a load space that swallows everything and still maintains rear view sight. Did get some prices for a D5 but the spec I wanted would come in at 69 which is nuts.

Long live the D4!

Yep, I still absolutely love mine! Five and a half hours in mine the other day and felt absolutely fine afterwards. Yes the in-car tech is terrible and it's a million miles from being a 'drivers' car but it's one of a limited number of cars that I just enjoy driving for the sake of it, I don't even mind being stuck in traffic jams!

It's in for a service next week and I have a new Discovery as a courtesy car for two days so it will be interesting to see how it compares. I've seen a delivery mileage HSE for £52k so I get the feeling they're not selling as well as they hoped. If I can get a 12 month old HSE next year for low £40s it might be enough to tempt me!

D4 is a brilliant car. Not remotely 'aspirational' and all the better for it. It's all about 'fitness for purpose' with this car. As was the original Range Rover and Disovery's - the D5 doesn't interest me at all. The cost is not an issue, but it offers limited value to me. Sad days going forward for this brand i fear, they on the cusp of entirely losing sight of the USP.

Love ours. A real swiss army knife of a car.

I love mine too. Little bit more bling than the D3 I had before it which was the ultimate Tonker Toy but the D4 is more reliable and ultimately the better car. I cannot see myself in a D5 thought; they just look wrong and don't appeal at all.

Superb cars - I'm in a real dilemma changing my 08 D3 to a D4. Great cars that can do everything.

Don't torment yourself. D4 is just like the D3 except better in pretty much every way. Get yourself into an 8sp SDV6.
