2015 L405 Autobiography SDV8.
From new. Not a single thing has gone wrong with it.

Just for balance.

I hope this is my experience. A fairly spartan spec HSE with HUD and some nicer wheels is being delivered to me in April, and this thread has set me slightly on edge!

Same with my Dads of that vintage. All the problems seem to be with the latest dual screen versions....which he should be getting shortly.

I hope his is trouble free.

Should speak to www.rockar.com, authorised JLR online

Great customer service, a breath of fresh air compared to usual dealership

Sourced my D5 in December

Also for balance my 2014 RRS HSE Dynamic has been pretty much fault free

Bought it used a year ago. It had one minor electrical fault (passenger airbag warning sensor) replaced under warranty

So almost a bit nervous to order a new one as much as i'm tempted

Perhaps picking up a 2015/6/7 car under warranty is a good bet if teething problems have been sorted

Plus another for balance 2013 L494 owned from new, not a single issue except for a couple of recalls.

2010 Disco 4 - owned from new for just under 4 years and 40k Miles - no issues

2006 Disco 3 owned from new for 4 years and 42k Miles - only needed 1 parking sensor and front track rod ends which were replaced via warranty.

Also for balance I had 2 Disco 4’s in the space of 3 years. Each of them did 30k faultless miles.

Seems the new stuff is a problem though. Will report back when Dad gets his new RRS in a few weeks.

Quick question to any SDV6 owners - are these sensitive to the diesel that goes in them? A colleague had a FFRR that had lots of issues caused, apparently, by filling it with supermarket diesel.

So

Hi Irfan

The Dealer Principal was actually very good and extremely apologetic - There was no quibble over refund, the money was back in my account on the same day that I advised of cancellation.

I did also got a phone call from Land Rover UK, who despite losing an order for a £112k car, didn't seem to care in the slightest!

With regards to me finding a replacement for the FFRR, you're right, there is nothing better than a Range Rover in terms of a 4x4 - I've previously had a Bentley Bentayga on loan for a week, and while it's a great car, it just doesn't have that Range Rover feel - It just feels like a well spec'd, nicely made high-up car.

In the meantime I've decided to go for a low mileage Rolls Royce Wraith to cheer myself up and will also still look out for a used (2015 onwards) FFRR.

The other thing I'm beginning to think about new cars, is often when you buy one, as first owner you are nothing more than the test driver....... All you seem to do in the first 6 months of ownership is sort out all the problems and take the disappointment that comes with it - It was no different with my Bentley Mulsanne Speed.

I'm beginning to think that the benefits of a well cared for, tried and tested low mileage car, outweigh that of a nice shiny new one

This is the thing. Range Rovers are basically superbly designed vehicles, but everything from there onward is executed by clowns. Land Rover is, in my experience, the most lazy and dishonest manufacturer in the market today and their products are retailed by utter retards. But, since I've been driving them, which is a long time, they've never been any different.

So bored have I become with the constant quality and service issues I have "skipped" a car in terms of the replacement cycle. I just could not face dealing with Land Rover over a new car purchase and then face the disappointment of about 6 months of stupid, niggling quality-based faults.

It's always the same with new Range Rovers. It's like buying a new Wimpy Home. Once you've been through two snagging lists you've got a good car. It takes about 6 months on average. The solution, then, would seem to be to buy a newish pre-owned vehicle, however, you're then into the arena of lemons that have been rejected by other people.

It's a dilemma, because my 2011 L322 is starting to show signs of decay and I need to start planning for a replacement. I just cannot bring myself to spend any more money with Land Rover.

I’ve had 3 and never used anything but supermarket fuel - never had an issue. Same for Jags with the same engine.

I'm looking to order he new rrs shortly using a company called Rockar - came up cheapest on carwow with a 4% discount

Been looking into a 2/3 year lease also.

As much as i'd love to get the autobiography, i'm thinking HSE Dynamic, santorini back, black and ivory interior, privacy glass, heated wheel, auto dimming mirror.

Will i regret being a bit stingy with spec? Adaptive cruise, remote heating, massage seats would be nice.

Are the more expensive 22 way seats worthwhile over standard?

Does anyone know if the 3.0 V6 SC engine suits the car? Had no problems with the torquey 3.0 SDV6 so might go for the same...

Dads new RRS arrived at the end of March. HSE Dynamic with a few options thrown at it.

The leather is a bit loose in my opinion but he is happy with it.

The new interior is a very nice place to be and the screens are behaving themselves, at the moment. It did take 3 attempts to make it stay on the settings screen when I was helping him set it up.

He ordered deployable side steps. They were not on the car when he picked it up, the excuse being that the supplier had not made them yet...

Last Friday they booked it in to have the steps fitted...he got there and was told that they hadn't come in yet.

Fast forward to this week and they are now stating that the deployable side steps cannot be fitted to his model...despite them being configurable on the website.

So on the whole he is happy but the side steps situation have left him a little dissapointed as he doesn't like the fixed versions.

So far, standard Land Rover buying experience then.

Please your screen is working okay. When I last borrowed one of the new RRS the Nav was so slow you could go to WH Smith, buy a map book and walk to your destination anywhere in Europe before the Nav was ready to give directions.

And now they are fitting the deployable side steps tomorrow...usual shower from that dealer I’m afraid!
