Ad blue in my 2018 rr sport
Discussion
The usage of ad blue in my new rr sport autobiography is now every 2500miles
Despite my constantly complaint to the dealer saying this cannot be right , their response is “ it is within lr spec “
So , I am doing 25000 miles per year and have to visit the dealer 10 times per year . They only do ad blue fills at 1.30pm , it takes an hr .
Bloody useless

Seems excessive to me.
Can't you just top it up yourself??

Yes I could , but as I paid for a service plan , I thought I should let LR pay for the excess use ...if it is happening to lots of cars , and if they are all on service plans where LR pay for the fill up, they might do something about it
In my experience, that is the only way LR react to complaints , otherwise they just ignore it and Fob the customer off.

That's crazy! In my experience, that is the only way LR react to complaints , otherwise they just ignore it and Fob the customer off.
I totally get you bought a plan so want to make use of it, but how the hell can it take an hour to fill a simple tank?
I can top up my screen wash in 5 minutes flat, similar operation surely?
Presumably though, it's tied in with the warranty so best to tow the line so to speak.

I'd get onto LR Customer Care and explain your case & the response of the local dealer and see what LR say?Despite my constantly complaint to the dealer saying this cannot be right , their response is “ it is within lr spec “

It is difficult to give a definitive usage rate, as there so many factors affecting the dosing.
At what stage are you getting the DEF tank topped up? The message centre warns from 1500 miles to empty
Tank capacity is just over 18 litres - do you know how much they are actually putting in? When the dealer has topped up, what DEF range do you see in the message centre (in the Service menu on the instrument cluster, with ignition on, engine off)? It may be that they are only adding enough for the warning to disappear, so you are never running around with a full DEF tank...

Yesterday the warning dropped from 1500 miles to 1000miles
100 miles later dropped to 500miles and said it wouldn’t start when down to zero
8 miles later dropped to 400miles and said the same .
Car going in on Monday , but I think I better put some ad blue in ..
Can’t wait to get rid of this car .

There is a definite problem with that car. The old mans does well over 10,000 miles between top ups.100 miles later dropped to 500miles and said it wouldn’t start when down to zero

my 2018 autobiography is still with the dealer with the screen issue..i had it all for one day. in the mean time they have leant me a MY17 67 plate demonstrator to use in the interim.
The loan car has just touched 5000 miles in my possession, and its currently warning me that the adblue needs topping up otherwise restarts aren't possible.
so basically adblue every 5000 and something miles. It is what it is, but surely it doesn't have to go to the dealer everytime and we can just do it from home if we buy it ourselves?
EDIT: Just read the above about doing it ourselves. I couldn't give a monkeys about doing this car as its the dealers, but my own car is on a service plan so I may have to suck it up and take it to the dealer. Surely not every 2.5k miles though... that sounds just nuts.

Update
After all this time, they have found the fault. It needs a new ad blue tank and pressure sensor ???
It has only taken 12 months and my insistance that something was wrong with it. If I had taken their word for it that everything was OK, I would still be visiting the garage for a top up every few weeks.
Lets see what happens now.

I have to say that for me this is just another reason to get a petrol.

+1. IMO and outside of the adblue and other issues, diesels will be heavily taxed over the next 1 ~ 3 years & beyond. The ground swell has started on them being dirty, polluting guzzlers which contribute towards killing small seals and polar bears. Not to mention some manufacturers tampering with emission tests....
And don’t forget those manufacturers then testing new and improved emissions by hooking monkeys up to exhaust pipes.....And making Beagles smoke fags.

MrsCs new Disco Sport 2.0d has done about 3k miles in nearly 7 weeks and the light popped up on the dash starting the count down for Ad blue - i think we're going to need a large container of the stuff by the looks of it....
First thought would be that the dealer ‘forgot’ to fill it up at PDI.Gassing Station | Land Rover | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
