Don't know if any of you guys get noises wen you pull up & turn engine off .. I keep getting this intermitent howling sounds like Chewbaka out of STAR WARS hiding in the engine bay .. only just noticed it the last few times I've been out .. sounds like pressure being released from somewhere in the engine bay ....any ideas ??

It will probably just be coolant moving around and venting excess pressure. The turbos are still hot, heating up the coolant - maybe boiling it - and increasing the pressure in the system.

If it sounds like water bubbling then that's what it will be. As suggested, the turbos boil the coolant inside and the bubbles produced are drawn upwards through the hoses where they're returned to the header tank. This convection is normal and allows cooler coolant to enter the turbos in place of the bubbles - perfectly normal.

Do you mean uprated or are they like a new version of the old turbo?

I’m sure I have always had this sound (intermittently) and I’m sure the car has been hot of cold.

Is your a 2.5 as mine is.

Ok, this really is clutching at straws here but my Monaro sounded like a percolator at switch off, turned out there was a tiny piece of limescale under the metal plate at the bottom of the rad cap, holding the spring ever so slightly open and allowing air into the system and boiling it off at the hot points of the engine. Note, the rubber seal between the cap and the neck of the rad was a good deal.

Worth a look, unless you now tell me the rad doesn't have a cap!
