Interesting comment regarding Slough further up the page. They have just charged me about £550 to diagnose a blocked turbo oil drain pipe, despite the fact its a known problem with its own LR technical bulletin and with a replacement part so different if requires an extra hole to be drilled in the sump in order to fit it.

They also suggested I need a new rear wiper motor as it was seized, despite the fact it works fine, and give me a car back ins such a state it that looked like it have been living in sea and had a battery left totally discharged and wouldn't hold sufficient charge to even get me home without the car nearly stalling each time I slowed down. The service was beyond dreadful and into downright laughable!

I do need to get the turbo pipe done, and my local indi reckons its a main dealer job. Does anyone really rate Watford, Aylesbury, Ascot, Oxford or Reading?

I had to pay the guys at Slough to get my car back, but I'm loathe to let them just get away with it, as they;ll just keep doing it to other people. Is small claims court the best place, or is there a step before this. I have written to them a number of times but they say they I authorised the work on the diagnosis, (an oil change which shouldn't have been needed) wand have failed to comment on the report suggesting the car needed a new wiper motor, amongst other things. They declined any responsibility for the battery, claiming they would have charged me £90 if I had wanted them to keep it charged. The battery was strong before it got to them!

Thanks James
I sympathise. My 20odd thousand mile RR needed 3 new tyres I was informed at my last visit.

"Did it pass its MOT?"
"er, yes"
"I see. I'll monitor them thanks".

They've definitely gone downhill. I bought a new RRS from them in 2014 and they were great, car was great and, for the first 2 years, service was great.

Things went thoroughly Pete Tong after that. Car remained great but the service dep't became hopelessly inefficient and neglectful and the sales side managed comprehensively to lose my business when I went in to buy an new Disco 5. Hopelessly and listlessly run.

Guy Salmon in Ascot have, however, been great in response (at least thus far). I just get the feeling that the dealer network hasn't expanded in line with the volume of the product they've sold...

My 1st service last year was by Marshall Oxford, they were proactive and by all accounts fine. Marshall Newbury just worked on my Jag and I would never go back.....

Following my earlier post about trying Milton Keynes, having done so we are goo revert back to the poor service from Bedford. At least we have a decent level of bad from them unlike MK who don't even appear now the meaning of customer service frown

I was told by LR Inverness that all RRs were not allowed to leave the garage without the battery being 100% charged!

Hunters are to be avoided IMO, when the screen went on my D4 they didn't push the dash back together properly, I decided to do it myself. The one and only service I took it for resulted in a 30 minute wait on collection and a bill of £18 for a litre of oil to keep in the car, they'd slipped it onto the invoice and when I queried it and refused to pay it took them another 10 minutes to take it off the bill. Crooks. The only good dealer experience I have had is Stafford LR, every other dealer I have used is poor at selling and servicing.

Not 100% on this, but I thought Hunters was just a brand name used by Inchcape for its LandRover dealerships, same as HA Fox for Jaguar. Inchcape dropped the names earlier this year ostensibly to present a more unified face, but I imagine it's more to do with the merging of J and LR dealerships onto single sites.

Well I’ve just bought my first Range Rover AB from them with mixed feelings but I am pretty confident they will come through, the deal was frankly amazing but could have been more so.

They are spread over 3 sites whilst they build a veritable palace and that causes issues.

Good:
Great deal on a 5 year old RR
Pre sale check got 4 new scorpions and brakes with a service as required.
Bodywork was very very well presented with paint and prep.
Sales chap spent ages testing all the buttons for me so it all worked.
Free dog guard
Found it had a tracker (myself, they didn’t know)

Not so good:
Didn’t stamp the service book ffs
On 5 years the transfer and diff oil should be changed, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t but they are advising.
One main key only but they ordered a second.
No remote heater fob but it’s ordered also
No parcel shelf but sending a driver to Cumbria to get it.

So a mixed bag really, let’s see how the next week goes.

One thing that pissed me off was that I asked for a water shedder to be fitted near side rear, service guy said “in 15 years I’ve never fitted one or heard of it” I later found out it has a LR part number!

God bless the sales chap, 4 months in and trying very hard.
