Just returned from a trip in the US to find my DS is telling me the battery is low.

Bought it just before Christmas, surely it cant need a new battery already?

If the car is brand new then take it back as a warranty issue.

If it was a used car:
How old is the car?
How old is the battery?
Was it bought from a trader or a private sale? If from a trader then take it back as a warranty issue.

Plus:

How much is the car used?

How long was it left at the airport for?

Oh it's a couple of years old and had 8000 miles on the clock when i bought it just before Christmas from a land rover dealer.

The dealer has said this is normal and the battery will recover once i start using it regular again - which sounds odd to me.

Since i bought it it's been used daily. Then it's been left for 6 days on my drive !

I have a DS, 2015 year, 2/12 years old and 7300 miles when I bought it from a LR MD.. I regularly go on holiday for a 1-2 weeks, car kept in garage. Never had any warning lights appear.

How much use does it get though? If it's doing a short school run / shopping trip type journeys then it may eventually run down.

Did it start? Could be there's a lot of safety margin in the warning.

Or it may be faulty - seems not unheard of on DS.

Probably just low from running the alarm while parked up. Drive it regularly or charge it over night and it likely will go away.

However:

Stop start cars are VERY particular about battery levels, you will get that message long before the battery will fail to start the car.

I've replaced the battery on:

My 5 year old golf (Moll brand) - total failure, wouldn't start again at a junction.
Mum's 3.5 year old Fabia (also Moll brand). This had constant "low battery" warning but seemed to operate fine I didn;t want her to suffer the above.

In addition a Freelander 2 with stop start I had stopped stop starting, this was down to the battery level. I never bothered replacing the battery on that.

Batteries are not normally covered by warranties being a wear item. Try http://www.tayna.co.uk

Oh and go weigh in the old battery at a scrap dealer, I got a tenner each.
