Hi all,

Looks like the btm end (Whatever that means) of my beloved 2008 2.4 TDCI Defender has gone at 145K miles and though she still runs, she sounds worse than a dozen spanners thrown in a washing machine on a 1200 spin cycle. The mechanic I use says its rebuild or replace time.

So I'm looking for a decent company out there that will collect the car, rebuild and return. Saying that I might be able to nurse her around 20 miles if I have to deliver.

I'm based on the Worcestershire/Gloucestershire border between Evesham and Moreton in Marsh

I'm also open to ideas where the engine could be 'upgraded'.

Any suggestions and recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance. smile

I have the same age Defender and the engine let lose at a 100k or so. Apparently the early Pumas have issues with oil spray to bottom of the pistons IIRC

I bought a new engine from M&D

I trailered it to West Wales to be done as I knew the chap, the labour rate was competitive and I needed a few jobs done.

Locally I'd be talking to The Forge Garage, Brailes or EH Douglas in Wardington.
