Thanks guys. Having some extra security fitted at the moment then off for a decent run tomorrow. It really is a nice place to be, the seats are so comfortable.
What security system(s) would you recommend?shopper150 said:
Rumours are that Ghost can be bypassed now....
Mine’s not a ghost, it’s better than a ghost.Do you have any evidence to support your ‘rumour’ because my security expert who fits a multitude of different devices to very high end vehicles certainly wouldn’t be fitting something that could be bypassed as it would be bad for his business?

There was a Instagram reel by Je_ldn about him upgrading his already good system because of worries about it,
There is no one on Instagram called ‘Je_ldn’. Do you mean Je_ldnm? He’s London based where insurers are refusing to insure RR’s or hiking premiums massively. I know he has loads of additional security on his Defender but doesn’t disclose what for sensible reasons. My security expert who’s based in Surrey and works a lot in London explained at the weekend that he has one client paying £5k pa for insurance for his RR and another who is selling because they wouldn’t insure unless he had a garage, which he does but it’s not big enough for the RR.
I’m comfortable that my RR is sufficiently more difficult to nick than one without the extra security, so hopefully the nasty people will go elsewhere. Like the above poster, I don’t really want it back if it’s nicked so preventing it being nicked is my priority.

They won't find out about your top notch immobiliser until they've got in the car, which probably means they have got the keys, which probably means they will have got in your house.
Which probably means let them have it, it's a car.
Oh dear. It seems as if this thread is attracting the idiots. Pity but not unexpected. Which probably means let them have it, it's a car.

Thanks for your opinion of me. Which is entirely unnecessary, and childish.
Do you leave you car keys by your unlocked door so that if anyone breaks into your house they can easily take your car? Perhaps you leave your car unlocked with the keys in to prevent someone breaking in to your house? What happens in your scenario if someone had my keys and still couldn’t start the car?
Phil. Of course I don't.
My house is well sorted from a prevention and deterrance perspective.
I'd be more inclined to believe your professional security guy's stories of '5k insurance', or 'no garage no cover' if he didn't make a living selling trackers and immobilisers.
If it gets nicked it gets nicked, an immobiliser doesn't prevent the worst part of the ordeal - the invasion of your safe space.

As you've pointed out, if thieves want your keys they will break in to your house, irrespective of if an immobiliser is fitted. So why are we debating this? My house is well sorted from a prevention and deterrance perspective.

I've been posting on this thread about Range Rovers which is an interest of mine as I'm now on my 7th. I get asked to explain more about the security I'm having fitted, answer factually and then people come on arguing its the wrong thing to do or they don't work. As I've made clear, that's fine. I've made my decision and am comfortable with it but they still want to argue.
If you don't believe my 'professional security guy's stories' please PM me and I'll provide his web site and contact details. I think you'll find he's legit and a very knowledgeable professional not a sales person spouting BS as you suggest.
It all seems a bit comical for myself.
Adding our Autobiography onto the group policy cost around £400 for the year and as I mentioned before no tracker required and I although I purchased the 3 year tracker I havn't activated it; that was purely for someone requiring it at resale time.
Another car that sits on the drive is way more than double the price and no tracker on that, and that's around £100 more of a premium a year.
Not much in the way of car thefts up our way.
Anyways; Phil...enjoy your new car. It looks lovely.
