Has anyone else put a deposit down to secure an order for the New RRS?
I put a deposit down yesterday and was told LR is likely to open the configurator in April, with aproximately a 12 month lead time, if I didn’t want one or he 1st edition cars that will be pre-specced.
The dealer said they are being careful who they allow to order a car - only existing customers and within a 50mile radius of the dealer.

Also placed a deposit, couldn't believe the hoops needed to go through to get an order on with them...they appear to be quite worried about resale - so must be expecting these to be selling above list for the next year or so.
Similar to above, gone for the Dynamic SE hybrid.
Also a bit miffed about the pre-conditioning being such an expensive option, but oh well can live without.

Went into our local dealership friday and ordered one, Hybrid autobiography, told to expect at least a year to 18 months delivery, but in reality they don't have a clue how long it will take as parts arrival changes on a day to day basis, so could be as little as 30 weeks.
Was asked if we were local to dealership though and also said being a returning customer helps.

I'm really liking the look of a PHEV Hybrid SE as an upgrade to my current Discovery 5 HSE. A one year delivery time would work out about right for me too.
I was really surprised that there is still a £510 road tax on the PHEV. Seems very unjust compared to £0 on a pure EV. In my use case I would be running electric 90% of the time, if the range is indeed greater than my 50 mile daily round trip. A Taycan doesn't quite meet all the needs like occassional towing in mild off road conditions in the same way the Range Rover does.
Maybe it is irrational to contemplate spending almost 90K and whinge about 500 quid road tax, but for some reason it really grates!
Do like the look of this new RRS though.

Yeah, it does sound as if it has changed on the new car. Pre-conditioning is described as "heating or cooling without starting the engine" so cant be just a FBH.
I'm still standing by my original position - though obviously haven't seen a new RRS in the flesh...Standard remote climate via the app starts the engine - by selecting the pre-conditioning option you then don't start the engine - but the FBH and other electrical gubbins instead. Hence the phraseology.
This is this way to get around the issues of having your vehicle unoccupied with the engine running, which is not legal on the road.
I am not 100% (or liable for any order issues!) - but will happily donate £10 to a charity if wrong.
