I end up with all sorts of odd crap like containers/pallets etc at work and just pop them on Gumtree and say they're at the back of our car park. Usually gone within a day or two.

Freecycle triumphed where the exact same offer (FOC and collection req'd ) on Gumtree failed.

It transpires that the barrels will be cleaned and refilled with various bulk bought items over here and sent back to Africa stacked in shipping containers.

The barrels are Nato standard and stackable so you never know, they could very well ending up in use ferrying water or other stuff around over there.

Far better than being stuck in landfill over here.

I also had two other enquiries after they had gone so I now have alternative avenues for the next load should the African guy not need any more.

Result.

Cheers,

Tony

Especially since the last post from the OP says they've all gone.

Update to the situation we have found a recycling company up north that will take all the barrels we want to dispose of for free as they are granulated for reuse within 30 mins of us dropping them off.

I found a company not 3 miles away that also granulate barrels but the quantities we get rid of at a time, about 200, were deemed to smal for their economies of scale.

Cheers,

Tony
