Or my company is struck off, I receive an unlimited fine and my credit rating is to be decimated.

So I'm naturally like O.... K WTF is this about?

Read some more and they want me to confirm if I'm still trading and want £13 for the privelage.

Seriously, I still trade and run my business. Do these guys not talk to HMRC or whatever.

And £13 Fukin quid..

I’m terrified that you run a company.

Confirmation statement: It's just the new name for the annual return AFAIK.

Are you new to this "running a company" thing?

The shirty nature of the reminder and the £13 fee is a piss take though.

Companies house and HMRC have zero manners and treat small companies in particular with contempt imo.

Why?

I'm pretty sure it's actually cheaper than the old annual return.

Do you think it then takes £13 worth of work to process because I don’t.

19% of profit in tax is salty enough for me thanks.

Well, Companies House doesn't really make a huge profit, and the Confirmation Statement is about 2/3 of their annual income. Think of it as an annual 'membership fee' for being a limited company, rather than the cost of handing one electronic form.

What's your alternative? That we don't need Companies House, or that it should be paid for in some other way?

Twenty years ago they were charging £20. Guess who ordered them to reduce it - the EU.

Just become a sole trader.
No 13 quid then.

Making a decision as to whether one should operate as a limited company or as sole trader should not be made on the basis of saving £13 per year.

And if you're operating a limited company and can't afford £13, then maybe you should just shut it down anyway.

So post GBrexit they'll be free to hoick it upwards again? There's another of those unintended consequences.

Still 'n' all, Blue Passports eh?

Seems a bit of a stretch!

Fees are linked to cost of operating and companies house made significant savings via web based electronic services.

If you don't know what it is the shirty threatening nature of it and the short period between getting the reminder and the deadline is unnerving.

All it needs to say is you have to confirm you are still trading and give you instructions as to how to do it plus the importance, nothing more.
