Random question but we use an online accounting package for our business as do most.

We're about to launch an app which is going to be a separate company in the not-so-distant future but for launch we are just using the existing company whilst we get it off the ground.

At present the app is going to be integrated with Xero and the main business is on Kash Flow.

Can we use Xero for the app company and put in monthly sales figures into Kash Flow?

Don't really want to pay for a Kash Flow integration and likewise don't want to register this as a new company just yet as it will delay launch.

Anyone done something like this before?

We're VAT registered if it makes any difference.

If it’s just sales that’s easy and just manually enter each period. I would suspect life will get more complicated if you try to run full accounts through two systems.

Alternatively connectmyapps has integration with both kashflow and Xero and I suspect would automate this easily https://www.connectmyapps.com

It's only to record and send the invoice, all costs will be through Kash Flow.

My concern is what happens when we move to the new company. We will create a new Xero account and all will be fine on the new company, but what happens to all the invoices recorded on the first xero account? can we simply delete them?!

If the money flows into the old company then I would think that you would have to keep then in some form.

Why does the app have to be integrated with Xero? Is it a restriction of the sales platform?
