Chucking a thread together for those of us on a weight loss mission for 2019. Don't be shy, PH can really help with these things (see the smoking threads and the debt free threads)

I will go first, 6'1 and 109KG, I will weigh myself in KGs as in Motorsport its what we use. I need to be down as close to 80 as possible come end of April as I am in the C1 24 hour race at Silverstone. Being the heaviest guy in the car by a country mile will hurt me as not only am i carry almost 30kg of personal ballast our lightest driver is under 80kg and so we have to have about 10kg (ish) of ballast too meaning I will be carrying an unnecessary 40kg of ballast, the same as an extra tank and a half of fuel!!!

I will be taking the "eat less and move more" approach, weird diets aren't for me, I am a food fan (my wife calls me a feeder as well) so I will aim to cook us better meals with more variety, a couple of books for me to draw ideas from are arriving today. I will keep a diary of all I eat and drink so that I can use it to kick myself if I fall back into bad habits (I LOVE crisps!) so far I have cut all fizzy sugary drinks (used to get through at least two a day, regularly more than that) and replaced them with a Soda Stream and carbonated water (I am now one hydrated dude) I can't however seem to shake the sugar from my coffee, so rather than torture myself with bad tasting coffee I will just drink less of it, I cannot stand any form of sweetner (it just tastes like chemicals) and Aspartame gives me migraines anyway.

I know it is unrealistic to lose almost 30kg in 16 weeks, but I can get as close as possible and there will be other races, if I can be 80kg for the next one, I will be a happy racer smile

Yep, I'm in again this year. Managed to drop 20kg last year and put it back on with work and family stress. Weighed in at 143kg this morning at 6ft4. Also going for the standard eat less and move more rather than anything fancy.

I have knee arthroscopy next Weds after a running non-incident last July. After that I want to lose 8kg and build back up to running properly again. No challenge compared to what some will be achieving this year but a loss is a loss!

In for this year, was broadly flat this year, have my wedding in Mid-September and I'm targeting 20-25kg of weight loss.

Current weight *sigh" 125kg, target = 100kg, I'd be happy with 110kg as i'm broad and hid it well at that level..... height is 6"1

Yep, I'm in. I'm 6'2" and currently weigh 18 stone 4 pounds, or 116kg in new money.

My aim is 15 stone (95kg) by the end of the year.

I've got a 10k run booked for September and need to beat the time I ran it 4 years ago so that's something to aim for.

Also in.

Glad this is getting started for 2019. Making it a bit competitive and adding the accountability aspect on here should help.

About 14 and a half stone and want to get down to 11 and a half/ 12. Medical due in June and work-wise potentially a need to get very fit again before the summer.

End of 2017 and 2018 have been fairly tough mentally and it’s easy to reach for the pizza, crisps and chocolate because they make you feel (temporarily) better.

Have a bit of a head start as been hitting the gym heavy again, but ditching the sugar and processed/ junk foods should do the job. Good luck everyone.

I'm going to jump in on this one too - always watched but never really taken it seriously!

Currently (as of this morning) 73.8kg and looking to get below 70kg then put on a bit of muscle again.

Always good to have some accountability, I'm hoping that dry(ish) January and getting back into Myfitnesspal will do the trick!

Good luck all!

Excellent, we have people joining us, always easier when you have someone to bounce stuff off, doesn't matter what it is, a problem shared and all that,(although in this case it cant be halved purely by sharing hehe )

I know its different for all but what is everybody's strategy around food/meals.

Weekends isn't an issue but its during the week that I seem to struggle, mainly owing to working hours.

I'm at my desk for 06:45, leaving the house at ~06:00, lunch is normal time and I'm typically leaving for home between 19:00 and 20:00 and have to cook dinner and then eat (the Mrs doesn't really cook.....)

I know that one of my big issues is how late I'm eating my main dinner - even though its normally good does anybody know of any good (healthy!) recipies that I can prepare the night before and ask her to cook while I'm out, bringing dinner time forward by an hour?

Also breakfast, I've realised I'm intolerant to milk/cream so have had to stop my morning cereal....did eggs for a while in the microwave but got bored quickly and resort to abokado bacon and avocado bagels (bad I know), Pod is nice but can't really justify £5 on breakfast 5 days a week - any Ideas?

I’ve always struggled with breakfast as I could eat bowl after bowl of cereal. So instead I do 100g of oats left to soak in milk overnight. Almond milk or soya would work just as well for you. Have that with frozen blueberries and it keeps me going until lunch.

What do you normally cook? Cook in batches and freeze?

In; 5'10" and 106.7kg on the 1st Jan.

My diet is generally very good with very little processed food and hardly any takeaways (once a month tops), my issue is alcohol, I drink too much and it is strong cider so full of calories; every night, so I am knocking that on the head for at least January and then will see how I go.

I am aiming to get to 90kg by the end of March.

For those asking about breakfast, I have 2 poached eggs on 1 slice of seeded bread with 15g of butter (110 calories in that alone, however the butter is no more as I used the last of it this morning so it will be back to the spread stuff which is half the calories I think), 375 calories in total and that will see me through till lunch with no issues.

Next weight check will be the 7th.

Good luck everyone.

Can do although without a microwave out (space limited) we're a little bad a remembering to get stuff out - have a load of slow-cooked meals frozen currently which I generally use up at work, mixed with tossed salads/tesco meal deals/sushi.

Good shout on the oats - I love Bircher and it sounds quite similar?

No specific aims but I'm hoping that once I ramp up my running mileage to do a half marathon later on this year I'll lose some more. Plateaued a bit at the moment. Not weighed myself since before Christmas but 6ft3 and 94kg last time I checked.

In for this too:

28 years old, 5'10 and 90.6kgs this morning. Mostly due to takeaways and not getting enough exercise. Girlfriend I've been seeing for the past 14 months has definitely made me lazy - think I'm around my max historical weight. Need to make some changes!!

Planning to drop to 75kgs in time, but hoping for around 0.5kgs reduction per week through eating less in general, reduce the number of takeaways and gym daily. If I can lose my belly I'll be very happy!

Before Christmas I was able to get to the gym four days a week so should be able to maintain and increase that. Tend to do 5K row and then a 5K cycle at decent pace when I go to the gym. Tend to get pretty sweaty so must be doing some good I hope!

Used to run lots in my teens/early twenties. Want to get back into that come spring minus some belly!

I’ll join you all - this needs to be the year that I get myself back in shape.

Currently 5’9 and 98kg and I want to get down to 80 kg.

Doing a lot of weight training at the moment but biggest factor in being overweight is alcohol. I am cutting this out completely at home and will be focussing on home cooked meals. I intend to add in some cardio exercise as well to speed the weight loss along.

Hopefully we can all have a successful year!

I've gone from being a decently fit person in mid 2016 weighting 11st 6lb to nearly 14st. Having managed to complete a second Ironman in 2016 everything got in the way, training stopped and I've done nothing since.

I'm aiming for around 11st 10lb so I've 35lb or so to lose. I'm aiming to have shed it by the end of March at the latest.

I'm staying clear of alcohol for 2019 as well.

Another Ironman in August this year has been booked and paid for, so I've something to work towards.

Good luck.

When I did the C1 4hr at Rockingham I was 20kg heavier than our lightest team member. I’m never going to get to that weight but I’m easily 12kg over what I should be living at and in the heat at Rockingham by Christ I felt it!

I also get called a feeder. The truth being we’re both as bad as each other. One suggests takeaway or hints at it and the other feigns contempt but immediately folds and much gorging ensues. She’s also a cake maker as a job and I have never really protested my role as chief taste tester in the R&D department.

I’m currently 6kg heavier than when we got married on June 1st and 8kg heavier than when we went on our honeymoon at the start of November. I’m also 2 weeks away from delivering a course on nutrition and fitness to a group of young motorsports athletes so all in, it’s a bit disgraceful.

I remember one of these threads from a few years back so shall we run a ledger:

PHer Height Start Date Start Weight Current Weight Lost
emicen 5ft 9 02/01/19 92.7kg - -

Edit to add:

Ate healthy all day, just shared a 180g bag of Doritos and the remains of a box of shortbread paperbag

Also, haven’t included BMI in the table cause it’s a crock of st

I'm in aswell. I am 6ft1, and as of the 2nd of Jan I weighed 15st. Have been to the gym before work twice this week and will be going again tomorrow. Also eating a lot less -in fact I've cut breakfast out- and so am down to two meals.
Looking to shed bodyfat first, then aim to put some muscle on.
Target weight (pre bulking for muscle at least) is 13.5 stone.
Dry January (and maybe February) will certainly help to acheive this goal.
