We’ve barely recovered after Bahrain, and now it’s time for China. A penny for Daniel Ricciardo’s thoughts this weekend, after his brilliant drive last year to win.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo took a sensational victory in the Chinese Grand Prix as a chaotic final 20 laps threw the championship wide open.
Ricciardo drove beautifully to pass five cars after Red Bull chose to pit for fresh tyres in a safety-car period.
Team-mate Max Verstappen stopped at the same time - but threw away his chances with two errors caused by over-optimistic driving.
Lewis Hamilton finished a frustrated fifth, but was promoted back ahead of Verstappen, who was penalised for causing a collision with Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.

They were hoping to put on a ‘classic race’ for the 1000 gp with a few of the former champions out in their old cars, as well as a few current drivers in older vintages.
They had some customs/Chinese government issues with this, and the race/demo has been put back probably to silverstone.
The Chinese government have allowed a Lotus 49 to be flown in which will be driven by Damon Hill before the GP.

See above, they wanted to do a classic through the ages race with past and present racers, but the Chinese government/customs would not allow the temporary import of the cars.How brilliant would it have been to see a classic 1960's Ferraris & Lotus, out with a an 80's Mclaren & 90's williams 2000's Ferrari etc.
With a bit of luck, they will run it at silverstone, no customs problems here.
I'm lost on this political point. Why should F1 not travel the world in the same way tourists do? - without stopping along the way remodel a remote culture to fit our own ideals...
Just because there are problems in parts of the world, doesn't mean you don't go there. If you think your own culture is better, then go there and share it. The Chinese came here to show off their budget goods and we accepted them. So now we go there and put on a spectacle of racing that shows off what can be achieved when engineers are freed from the production line and their minds allowed to run free, to innovate and create speed.
Seems like a broadly fair exchange.
