Just wondering - what's everyone experience of oil consumption on their V8V? My 4.7 has lovely clean oil but I've now topped up a litre in 5000 miles, which seems more than my dailies use. Is that normal/excessive/worrying?
No idea of the norm, or if my 4.3 is even comparable to the 4.7, so apologies if I am no help whatsoever, but mine hardly uses a drop, in 10,000km plus of semi-daily and longer trips it shows a drop of a 2-3mm on the dip stick. It`s astounding, never had a car so oil frugal!
Sounds about right. Can vary depending how you drive and age. My old 4.3 started out using 1-2l between services at 10k miles and once over 50k miles probably 1L. My 4. 7 with 63k miles on it now, put 1L in it over the course of the year.
I sucked 800ml back out of the engine, tested the oil level in the way you're supposed to confirm it's now on the "max" line... 200ml in 5k miles, much better. Feeling sheepish now!
