My mum, in her sixties, is ready for a new tv. She’s had a Sony led/lcd thing for quite a long time (at least 10-15 years) which I’ve always felt was less than impressive. The main input is from an ageing humax freesat box.

Now, she’s decided it’s time for a new one. She’s got standard broadband, not fibre. When we visit, they never seem to know quite how it’s working. Never sure which input it’s working from, always fighting with the volume from whichever input it was last on.

When she first asked, I instantly suggested a Roku hisense unit from Argos. All the players are integrated, so most functions are from one remote, saving a load of hassle. Unfortunately, Argos don’t have any, in any size in stock to buy from anywhere.

So now I’m spreading my net wider. I’ve been Reading the suggestions here, https://www.t3.com/features/best-43-inch-TVs
I’m actually happy to recommend most of what’s included. I’m not instantly in love with most of Samsung’s output, but even I have to admit, I like the look of their offering.

For someone not really into tech and TVs, but looking for the best they can buy, what should we be looking for? Best in the bunch name din the article above, or any others considered.

LG for the best combination of ease of use and picture quality for me. I’ve got an LG OLED and then a couple of cheap 43 inch models too and am really impressed with the picture on the cheap ones for the very little money they cost. About to buy another to replace an ageing Panasonic plasma (not an easy TV to replace).

Panasonic TX 43 HX940 is a great sounding TV with a stunning picture. The Samsung QE43Q60 is also a great buy.
