I wasn't trying to show off, I didn't know if I should take the gamble after reading other comments, but did and it worked.
I posted as a help to suggest that it does and should work!
I know. Sorry I didn't mean to insinuate you were showing off! I posted as a help to suggest that it does and should work!

mm - feel for you. (See my post above) My 2011 MBP was fine after a bit of fiddling - my newer iMac has same symptoms as your MBP, and I’ve not yet found time to research a fix...

Righto. You didn't say. But yes, all OK and my (fusion) drive is still HFS+. I did not convert that or any external to APFS during beta. I am on 17A365 which I believe is not Beta.
Correct 17A365 is not Beta. To clarify, you have loaded HS without ill effect. Have I got that right?Edited by jmorgan on Wednesday 27th September 00:04
Thanks

Oooo - thanks. That looks promising. Will find time to have a good look when I’m back in front of it!Not sure what I'm doing but in a nutshell I've deleted my drive and am installing El Capitan...only another 10 hours to go according to the timer. Once installed, I will updated the OS to Sierra but will leave High Sierra alone for the moment. Once bitten twice shy.
Thankfully I have everything backed up on iCloud.

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/ht204904Try one of these. I think what I did in the end was delete my disc from the disc utility and started all over again. Ended up with El Capitan (which took all day to install), and then from there successfully installed High Sierra.
I'm sure there are quicker and better fixes out there though.

Some ways of doing it sync the emails between your Mac and the server, others are a one way connection. I'd expect that the AOL account way would keep them in sync.
I can't see any options in that respect. Odd thing is that there seems to be more (ie historic) stuff on aol that's not on Mac Mail, and yet it also seems to be mirrored in so far as the deletions are concerned. I've clawed back the deleted stuff, but it would be nice to know what went on.IanA2 said:
