Yes another MBP owner here - Intel i5 2019 and battery lasts about an hour. The strip under the screen is also cracked.

Going to the Air model next I think

Airtag + Family account + child within = fail.

Why cant one share either an airtag registered to a child in the family with the adults, or vice versa?
I can not register the airtag for my childs house keys (age 11, so you know why!) with her?

Mental.

A small annoyance that I didn't think was a think before....

I drag an iCloud folder to the dock (so I can use it as a short cut) However, when cmd+clicking it it shows the folder in folder rather than taking me to the opened folder. Is that a new thing?

I've ordered a Minisopuru dock in the Amazon sale for my M2 Mac Mini, it's just under £40, matching the price of the cheapest it's been on camelcamelcamel, they're usually around £60. It looks like this and it had an NVMe /SATA M.2 storage slot in the bottom of it.

Unless there's a good deal I'm not going to get an M.2 straight away in the Prime sale, but what's the best suited M.2 card for one of these? Limitations are 2TB maximum size and 10Gbps data speed. This is the list of compatible M.2.

According to this, SATA tops out at around 5-6Gbps, NVMe is a lot faster, so even a basic NVMe should be good for 10Gbps? I'll ignore the SATA cards as an option. https://uk.crucial.com/articles/about-ssd/m2-with-.... Any recommendations?

Hub is set up and working as far as I can test it quickly with an SD card and USB stuff. It's freed up a bit of desk space, and made the ports and power button easier to get to standing it at the side of the screen. So far so good.

Hi all -

Update to Sequoia (15.0.1) recently and I am infuriated by the windows of the different apps on the screen (Chrome, Safari, Mail, Outlook etc. - all do it) are randomly expanding to what the Mac thinks is best, often filling the screen. I have large 40inch wide screen as the desktop extended play so it tries to fill it, versus let me have lots ongoing at the same time.

this tends to happen as soon as I try to move or resize a window.

ideas ?

Turn off the new tiling feature?

Hi all,

Is there a way to get an iphone 13 Po camera to take pictures without auto-modifying them?

Beautiful autumn oranges, yellows and reds are turned dull brown by the blue wash the iphone applies

Secondly, is there a way to stop it changing the shape of peoples faces?

I've got a Kingston NV2 card in mine, it's limited by the bus speed so there's not much point getting a card with a higher bandwidth.

This is what speed I'm seeing writing/reading to it:

Imo its decent for the money, you can get quicker thunderbolt docks but they cost £150+.

Are you sure you aren't using some filter? Even if not, you can edit the photo to apply a less blue filter, or change the colour balance. Which camera are you using that is changing the shape of people's faces? And how close are you taking the photo? I would expect, especially the ultra wide angle lens to distort faces when close to the subject, just because of the field of view.

I use the Halide Pro camera app to give me more control, and if I need the ultimate control I shoot in RAW/DNG and export to the Mac for processing (there's also an option to save massive TIFF format files too).

If you're using the front / selfie camera then all bets are off!

Thank you Craikeybaby.

I've just had a call from a manager at Apple who has talked me through all of the settings and conducted a diagnostic examination of my 'phone.

The only thing they changed was format from "most efficient" to "most appropriate". It hasn't changed the result.

The face distortion was noticed by my (now ex) GF who basically hated the pictures of her (in std or portrait) because it increases the size of her forehead (i think it also lightens her skin colour but she doesn't seem to mind that).

Does anybody on here get good results for autumn pictures with their iphone? Or accurate piuctures of the better half?

Looking at the Google phone thread, they seem to suffer from false colours as well.

Weird stuff that might be useful to someone hehe . If you connect an Apple Pencil with a Lightning port to a 7th gen iPod Nano, the iPod charges the Pencil. https://www.reddit.com/r/ApplePencil/s/eUvw4ZH0XQ

Wife's iMac has died - 21" iMac, 2013 (ish), SSD. Google suggests its reporting that no operation system.

Anyone able to give a quick diagnosis, I'm guessing the drive is borked? (I'm blaming a power cut. Is that possible?) Or could the SSD just have lost a partition (now out of my depth).

If drive has failed, bit of a bd as screen has to come out, which is not so easy.
Anyone?

Standard boot gives blank screen and eventually a flashing '?'

Restart in Recovery mode and I can get to Disk Utility which gives me this:

All the photos on my iPhone are backed up to iCloud.

Is there any way to view all my iCloud Photos on my MacBook Air M1?

I don't want to download them at all (Don't want to waste any storage space on my MacBook) but I do want to browse them, delete them, download the odd one, whilst viewing them on the MacBook.

Thanks!

You should just be able to log in to your iCloud account online and view them there?

Thanks for the reply!

I can indeed see them all on there by logging into iCloud online. I was hoping I could access them via an app such as Photos on the Mac?

I guess it doesn't make much difference, but somehow logging into a website to view them seems a bit un-Apple!

You can. Photos will show you what is in iCloud. Go into the settings in Photos and select "Optimise Mac Storage" if you don't want them all downloaded at full resolution.
