Seems fair enough, the maglite will remain un-upgraded. It's just a nice thing seems a shame.
If you really want to upgrade your maglite , then http://www.thetorchsite.co.uk/High_Power_10_Watt_M...

£30 for 400-800 lumens
Thanks for this - have ordered one for my maglite

I've got a BLF Q8 on the way, wish I'd not bothered with Banggood if you can get them on eBay in 7 days for a couple of quid more!

I'm loving this Q8, so many different modes and I've walked the dogs every night for 30 mins (on a middle setting) and it's still on the original set of batteries.

4 quick button presses locks/unlocks it, it stops my kids from messing about with it and blinding each other or leaving it on when they've finished messing about with it.

I'm a big fan too. Although (perhaps shamefully) I've been keeping mine in the bedroom. On the odd occasion I hear anything go bump in the garden it'll illuminate the whole place, instant turbo is handy, the green button light is bright enough to find in the dark but not so bright as to be annoying and the ramping makes it easy for getting into moonlight for digging out clothes etc when I'm getting up early and don't want to wake the missus. And I sometimes use it in place of a bedside lamp as the battery capacity means it lasts a long time.

It is slightly shameful that I've turned a 5000 lumen beast with the latest and greatest driver into a glorified nightlight, but when I'm out in the dark it's usually because I'm running and I prefer a headtorch for that. I really need to get a dog to justify all the dog walking torches I've got.

Any ideas for hands free other than head torch?

Clip to jacket pocket or something don't want to blind the dogs every time I look at them.

These are really good. Useful to have around as well.

Any tube style headtorch will come with a pocket clip. I've never used them on any of mine, but they should do what you want.

You can run them off an 18650 or 2 x CR123's; if you're using them often, it's far cheaper to do the former.
I've got both those lights (I used codes to bring the prices down) and both are solid and reliable. The former more floody thanks to the TIR, the latter with a tighter hotspot (more throw) but still plenty of flood.

Olight do some quality lights by all accounts. But 'for not much more' - on Amazon, absolutely. But being slightly older the HC30 can be had for £30 through the usual far eastern channels.

Curious to hear how you get on with it though. Nitecore are about to release the HC33 - an XHP35 powered version of the HC30. I'm quite tempted; I suspect it'll be around £20 less than the Olight (maybe even more of a discount if it's part of a groupbuy.) No magnetic charging etc but I don't mind that - I wouldn't use it anyway as my desk is already a cats cradle of cables. But the beam pattern differences could sway me.

I keep getting hit with delays and customs charges lately with gearbest and bangood using carriers

DHL have really pissed me off challenging me to prove with invoices and PayPal transactions.
. If I order free ship would have taken weeks from those sites

I'm impatient and wanted it for tonight not used it though because I've hit the battery on charge though.
I'm finding that with two dogs and the routes I take involving obstacles gates, walls, etc plus tendinitis carrying a torch was become a drag. I tried the head torch while good I was literary blinding them every two minutes. So didn't mind paying a bit more for speed on this occasion.

Not sure if this will work clipped onto a jacket pocket but will try. If not it's just another torch to add to the collection. I have two other olights with the magnetic charger and I like it I tend to swap them over every three or 4 days I need to see if this is the same charger probably not as I noticed positive goes towards the cap I don't think the other two are like that.

Now I'm considering the olight XR7 sines I saw it on the website.

Praise the lord of flashlight yes, yes olight.

Ok I'm strange one thing I hate is scrolling through power levels.

I want two and two only. nice comfortable walking and turbo that's it.

This olight as I've just practiced set to second level up then two clicks turbo s, two clicks back to where it was.
Awesome.

Not quite as good as my fenix which is temp turbo on long press but I guess that wouldn't work anyway as I won't be holding this in my hand.

I am so happy right now
