Convoy T2 looks good if it has to be AA, and it hits the price point.

Don't forget, you can get torches that come with an 18650 and have a USB charge port.

I’m very pissed off because I effectively can’t use my nitecore TM06 as these are too short! So they rattle slightly and don’t seem to make proper connection. What a fking waste

Why don’t these ish manufacturers design a standard and stick to it madS

Might be worth trying PCB protected ones as an alternative if they're too short? I have the same Samsung button top 30q's at home and they're noticeably shorter than the 18GT-IMR31's that came with my Klarus.

I'm not sure if this has been posted already, but there's a handy guide on the CandlePower forums; http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php...

I have a nitecore TM16 so similar and I asked a similar question on here about batteries and ordered them as per the thread mentioned above and they fit correctly.

Use a small round magnet on the top of the battery to take up the slack, or modify the tail spring of the torch.

Maybe magnet’s an idea but it takes 4 so a bit of a palaver. Feel like I wasted 20 quid. Don’t want to buy 4 more cos then I’ve spent 40 fking quid!

I've got the Sofirn SC31 Pro - it's a cheap torch that runs on a single 18650 and has USB charging.. It's certainly bright enough for walking the dog of an evening and fits easily in my pocket.

Ledeak T6, but it's really an 18650 battery though it comes with a triple AAA adaptor and batteries.

Amazon
Another vote for this, had one for a while until I mistakenly lent it to someone and never got it back. Recently bought a similar one on Prime Day, all fairly standard issue. Only complaint with these torches is that no one really does a simple on off button without it changing modes each time
Yep - I've got one too and it's great VfM. Got it for just under a tenner on a special offer day.
Thanks all. I have ordered it.

Just want to say to everyone posting on this thread - you're all fking bds biglaugh

I'd not seen this thread before, but coincidentally it popped up just when I was thinking I need a new torch for when I take the dog out now the mornings are darker. There I was thinking it was perfect timing, I'll find some recommendation for a tenner, job then jobbed...

Well, no, not really... I'm now browsing various torches well into 3 figures, just because, well why not? I suspect once I'm done I'll be able to set up a night time landing strip for light aircraft in the nearby fields biggrin

Well I hadn't bought a new torch for ages..... but on an impulse grabbed an Astrolux MF01 MINI from Banggood. Shipping was very quick, 10 days from ordering.

Thought I'd do a bit of a comparison review of the MF01 MINI:

Like many here I've suffered scope-creep from looking at a £10 rechargeable jobbie through to a 45,000 lumen earth-scorcher. But my research tells me that anything above £50 and 600 lumens or so is just a waste of time as they only emit their stupid power for a couple of minutes before they step down considerably to prevent themselves from melting?

(I've been researching for weeks and I still haven't bought one!)

I think you're kinda missing the point of this sort of torch... it's a bit like the electric cars that can just bugger off in .01 of a second... you can't actually do that if you want to drive any distance after, but it's fun doing it wink

See the XKCD cartoon I posted on the previous (big) page (6th Sept if you're using smaller pages) smile

If you just want a decent torch, and you've not played with silly things, the BLF A6 will blow you away for only a few £.

My last purchase was "only" 800 lumens max, because this torch is actually used around the house, garden, dog walking etc by the whole family, and I placed decent flood-to-throw zoom and general build quality/robustness over max output. Also it doesn't have a complicated UI, so no complaints from wife or daughter.

I have several more powerful torches which hardly get used... and my wife doesn't know how much they cost wink

I have absolutely no need for 13000 lumens in something that will slip in my pocket... but quite a lot of wantevil

I've had one in my Amazon watchlist for a short while and I've been waiting for the voucher price to creep up - it started at 5% a few days ago, and is now at 7%

And also because I don't already have an Imalent in my collection...

Hmm, this popped up on FB feed from Heinnie yesterday. Nice and tempting. I have the Imalent MS06 for 'wow' factor already but while small, it is heavy.
I also have a small Nitecore MH20GT for edc use and an MH25GTS for around the home along with an old Inova T4 and a couple of Maglites. My most recent torch purchase is an Olight Warrior X which I keep in the car so adding another so soon when I don't really use any of them anyway is a tad excessive...but yeah, tempting nonetheless.
