Not to mention that this thread isn't actually about torches - it's about blokes who compulsively hoard things, not sell them hehe

Ok

Ordered, can't wait.
With kids batteries get taken and used nonstop in the house.

I've had one in my Amazon watchlist for a short while and I've been waiting for the voucher price to creep up - it started at 5% a few days ago, and is now at 7%

And also because I don't already have an Imalent in my collection...
12% just now smile

Still cheaper at Heinnie (and their service is almost unbelievably good!)

Whats the discharge rate (days) if left in the car unused?

Anything Li-Ion lasts a very long time unlike trad batteries. I charged up my power bank in March (it has a digital readout) looked at it the other day with a view to perhaps needing to top it up and it was still at 100%

So I've discovered that I've got a torch already, just a cheapo 18650 one. But no charger.

So I bought one of these, just to charge the battery! Tail cap threads are gnarly and some head wobble, but it's nice enough otherwise,it zooms.. and it's £6.39!

I have a feeling that this is the start of a slippery slope though...

Sooooooo.....

....anyone got/getting one of these?

First time I've been seriously tempted in a while...
Like many here I've suffered scope-creep from looking at a £10 rechargeable jobbie through to a 45,000 lumen earth-scorcher. But my research tells me that anything above £50 and 600 lumens or so is just a waste of time as they only emit their stupid power for a couple of minutes before they step down considerably to prevent themselves from melting?

(I've been researching for weeks and I still haven't bought one!)
I think you're kinda missing the point of this sort of torch... it's a bit like the electric cars that can just bugger off in .01 of a second... you can't actually do that if you want to drive any distance after, but it's fun doing it wink

See the XKCD cartoon I posted on the previous (big) page (6th Sept if you're using smaller pages) smile

If you just want a decent torch, and you've not played with silly things, the BLF A6 will blow you away for only a few £.

My last purchase was "only" 800 lumens max, because this torch is actually used around the house, garden, dog walking etc by the whole family, and I placed decent flood-to-throw zoom and general build quality/robustness over max output. Also it doesn't have a complicated UI, so no complaints from wife or daughter.

I have several more powerful torches which hardly get used... and my wife doesn't know how much they cost wink

I have absolutely no need for 13000 lumens in something that will slip in my pocket... but quite a lot of wantevil
I would have snapped one of those up. But 6 months ago I had an epiphany and decided with 450+ torches I didn't need any more. I have one torch at 10k lumens and even the best pocketable torches are 4k lumens and perfect for what I need (caves/mines/exploring) as any more lumens washes detail out with photography.

II decanted 200 torches (the crap ones, although I've kept my first ever LED torches) to charity shops, friends and family.

Unless you are illuminating the great outdoors 13k is too much for me. I think the best torch I have for an all rounder is my Astrolux AS15(?).

I have about a dozen torches / lanterns and I though I had it quite bad, but there's always somebody that's slid far further down the slippery slope.....

What sort of torch are you after?

For a huge amount less money I’d be looking at Convoy or Astrolux. Or maybe something Intl-Outdoor.

https://intl-outdoor.com/led-flashlights.html

I’ve got a KR1 with Osram LED on its way now.

Or for the money of the Olight I would go for something Zebralight. I don’t have anything against Olight. I own 3 or 4 of them. But that one just looks pricey to me.

I don’t think you should buy that olight either, it’s too ugly in both colour and form, and expensive too.

Like many lights, the Olight is cleverly programmed in order to claim much higher lumens than it really puts out during use. The high marketing lumen output only lasts for 1.5 mins before dropping to less than half the output.

I just want a fking good torch with loads of fking light coming out of it that fits in my fking pocket - and when I've got it I don't want that niggling doubt that I should've bought a different fker banghead

Reminds me of Rob Gilbert trying to buy a fking duvet!
