Anyway, I'm going to stop here as you're obviously trolling and I'm taking the bait.
yes

If nothing else the one thing the SGS2 is widely acclaimed for is its screen.

Against who? Maybe not the slimmest at all points, but it feels a lot slimmer than the iPhone 4(S), and the weight is extremely low (even lower than the much smaller iPhone). They went for slim & lightweight in the end, imho they shouldn't have but to say that they lost that battle?
No I meant there was some court battle or something and the judge ruled that it had to be measured from the thickest point? Could be wrong though. It is personal preference this though. I prefer a weightier phone, I've been forced to use a case with the SGS2 as it's too light and slippery.

I'm honestly not trolling, I just am not that impressed with the screen that's all, and for the SGS3 I think it's something that could easily be improved upon.

Re: the TV comparison, you have it backwards, I'm saying I can see more on the smaller iPhone screen. Try texting in landscape on both and you'll see what I mean.

GranTurismo5 and COD MW3 also got rave reviews but I thought they were both crap.

I prefer to make my own opinion that regurgitate someone elses.

What you state:
"I can see more on my 35" 720p TV than on my 42" 1080p TV"

Nope, I don't have it backwards.
I don't have to text in landscape on the SGS as my phone is wide enough to use it in portrait.

But even if I hold both my SGS2 and 3GS in landscape, your statement still doesn't make sense.

Really?

So bigger screen, but can see less.

I also text in portrait, but landscape is more comfortable.

Yes, that makes the SGS2 screen suck and has no relation to app/OS design whatsoever hehe
Oh, and try and use Swype and you'll never need landscape again.

As for the weight, indeed, that's personal preference. I've had bricks of phones in the past (square edges, substantial weight), I like mine rounded & slim tyvm smile.

Richy,

If you are so unhappy with your SGS2, which you clearly are, judging by your attempts to slate it on every single phone thread imaginable (and a few non-related ones too), perhaps you should consider selling it and buying the iPhone you clearly want? And then, I dunno, maybe sodding off and leaving the many happy SGS2 owners in peace to enjoy what is an excellent handset?

  • DISCLAIMER* I have neither an iPhone nor a SGS2, I went for the thrid way of a Sony Xperia S. Which has a nicer screen than the pair of them but that's a separate argument wink

Never having got a phone close to launch day - whats the normal situation? How soon after 7pm tonight will I be able to go onto O2's website and order the phone on a contract?

That all depends on how soon its actually released, the thing today is the launch of the phone - basically an announcement.
It is rumoured that it will be released soon after today, but who knows.

Meh, massive disappointment. Pentile displays are not nice. They seem to be chasing the stupid voice control trend that Apple have tried to create.

Being an SGS2 owner, I have to say I prefer the One X to the SGS3...

Likewise. Was hanging on to see what the s3 had to offer, but underwhelmed.

Nice CPU plus a few tweaks on a Nexus. Bit of a disappointment to be honest. They are playing to the Apple crowd with all of the addtional features (eye tracking, speech stuff etc) IMHO

Why a disappointment ? its got everything rumoured quad core, wireless charging, more NFC features, better camera and so on.
Not crazy about all the sharing stuff, but I won't use it so not the end of the day.

Way too much is being made of the pentile screen thing IMHO.

Glad i went for the s2 now, it doesnt look that special i thought they would introduce a model which addressed the main problem with the s2 which in my opinion is to replace the plastic casing with somthing far more premium to rival the iphone structure.

Was really excited about it and during the coverage was slightly dissapointed, especially with the Pentile display. Not sure what phone I will upgrade to now... Ill make sure I will see one before I will make a purchase.
