Bit of a weird one this but I am pulling my hair out with this! Yes I have emailed Apple but no reply forthcoming yet.

My wife and I both have IPhones on the same iTunes account and recently updated to IOS6. Since then neither of us can access the account. The Apple ID is recognised but password is now incorrect (neither I or my wife has changed it) and the personal details to verify it is me are also now incorrect. We have tried resetting the password via email several times but do not receive the links to do so!

My first thought was fraud, but the bank have confirmed no transactions have taken place. Any idea WTF is going on and how we can restore our account without having to wait for Apple to (eventually) get back to us?

I had a similar problem and had to change my password for a longer one with at least one capital letter.

I would try this as the symptoms are the same.

I had to do this 6 months or so again. I think they are rolling in password changes to be more secure, (capital letters and a number included), but this is just a speculative guess. Have you tried doing it via iTunes on the computer?

Yes we had the full gamut of capitals, numbers etc. all worked fine for ages but I think IOS 6 has crashed it totally.

We're stuck in a catch-22 though as we can't actually change the password we can't log on, can't verify personal details and the links to change our password aren't received. It's like our account has been totally suspended or hacked, but doesn't say suspended and no fraudulent transactions.....yet

No not yet. Although my wife seems to have changed my apple id in the meantime (grrr) which might explain things. Back on iTunes now with her new logon but not sure what is going on with the previous one or whether this is one and the same. Doh.

I blame my wife hehe

If she simply changed the login ID via settings, all should be the same. I have changed that myself a few times.

A tad off-topic, but I've been having different password grief with apple id. I spoke to support who said the best address to sort out these issues is appleid.apple.com.

I got further with my issue there but still irked. irked
I use 1password to generate and store my passwords which means they can be pretty secure as I don't have to remember them or be able to type them quickly, just copy and paste. However, when changing your password appleid doesn't accept pasted input, it has to be typed character by character. Not a show stopper but frustrating typing in 20 character passwords like *KYvfkNP9{uRX4>Kmg9X on a flipping iphone.
