Anyone having problems with Hue Dynamic?
The app. won’t start. I have tried reloading and rebooted the bridge etc but no difference. Using iPad to control.
It was because the App had been upgraded to iOS13 and my iPad had not.The app. won’t start. I have tried reloading and rebooted the bridge etc but no difference. Using iPad to control.
The App owner was very quick to come back and explain - great service.
I'm new to Hue and considering one of the outdoor lanterns for my porch. I wasnt really looking for a smart solution, but like the look of some of the square metal lanterns. I'd want it to be triggered by a PIR, so that will add extra cost. Just a couple of questions, am I right that the PIR is battery powered so doesn't need to be wired in? Secondly, would I also need the hub to get them working together? Seems like a big investment, but presumably that gives me what I need for other lights, and could potentially trigger an internal light off the outdoor PIR for security?

Thanks, and am I correct that the PIR communicates with the light by wifi, and therefore if the wifi is down or slow the light aont come on?
The hub connects via ethernet cable to your router then the Hue devices create their own network, a bit like SONOS.However, to control the lights from a phone or something you'll of course need wifi.
You can still switch the bulbs on and off like a normal light though, assuming there's a physical switch.

Thanks, so if the wifi went down, would they still talk to each other? Would be a bit annoying if the PIR didnt trigger the light of there was no wifi at that particular moment However, to control the lights from a phone or something you'll of course need wifi.

I just tested it. I switched off the router completely and my motion sensor still triggered the lights so yes, they'll work regardless of wifi, or even with no internet at all

one annoying thing about all this tech is situations like when Virgin went down for 2 days in my area. My doorbell no longer works at all, the house alarm is having a wobble. No Hue lights off my phone. First world problems!
That is annoying however if you'd have connected your phone to the WiFi on your router Hue would still work locally even without the Internet.Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
