Philips Hue Lighting - owners thread
Discussion
There is a limit for devices for each hub. That can include motion sensors and remote switches for the lights. I use it integrated with Apple Home kit but apple has a problem with reading light. It thinks it is Reading, as in the place and if I ask for reading lihjy on, sometimes it turns all the lights on and deep red!
Neighbours must think I am running a nooky hotel.

The thread is generally about what excellent value for money they are https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-Ambiance-Wireless...

Yes you need a hue hub.
Cheers quite a investment for the novelty of asking Google to turn a lamp or a light on If you have a colour changing can you ask Google to change the colour is their limit to the amount of lights I can use per hub

e have a new wetroom and fitted 4 ambience GU10s and the LED strip. Electrician got some fittings in mind of the longer length, can't remember what they are though so I'll have look for the boxes.
Colour GU10s, I'm not so sure though, as they are longer again I think. Ambience aren't much bigger than usual really.

Do the ambience bulbs dim via the app?

Yes, there's an LED controller called the FLS-PP which lets you use standard 12v or 24v RGBW or RGB lightstrips.
With a suitable power supply you can run 10m of strips from one controller.
OK il take a look at that, has anyone used Hue Disco with one of these and does it behave the same as the Philips strip? With a suitable power supply you can run 10m of strips from one controller.

I feel daft asking this, but any particular RGB lightstrips?
The driver is common anode (common positive) but I think that's the norm for LED strip anyway. The controller can handle either 12V or 24V strips but the power supply you use must match your strips both in voltage and having enough power for length of strip you want to run.
I used these in my lounge
5m of RGBW strip

Thank you, this has tempted me(Again) back into getting phillips hue, this time I have the other half on board. The controller can handle either 12V or 24V strips but the power supply you use must match your strips both in voltage and having enough power for length of strip you want to run.

The one thing I would have loved to be able to do is replace the lightswitches too in the house so that if someone turns them off you can still turn the lights back on using voice rather than have to use the switch again, has there been any progress in a solution for that?

I just blanked them off and stuck the Hue dimmer switch next to them. Impossible for anyone to turn them off now (well, difficult anyway, you can still toggle the physical swtich with a matchstick if you need to) and there's still a "proper" switch available for anyone who wants it...The one thing I would have loved to be able to do is replace the lightswitches too in the house so that if someone turns them off you can still turn the lights back on using voice rather than have to use the switch again, has there been any progress in a solution for that?
Even a few months on I still find myself trying to switch the physical switch off in the bedroom where I haven't got a Hue dimmer yet, so quite pleased I blanked it!
