I changed my whole house to E27. It's bizarre that this country still clings to bayonet fixings.

I plan to do the same. For the moment I just use adapters where possible.

I really do wish the colour bulbs weren't £50. It's a little insane.
£40.25 on Amazon at the moment. Price tends to fluctuate a little bit, camelcamelcamel is your friend. Still pretty eye watering for a lightbulb though.

Love my Hue setup in my apartments - converted 4 GU10 spots in the lounge and i have one of the ball shaped lamps in my bedroom. The bedroom lamp connects to my 'sleep cycle' app on my iPhone and works in conjunction to gradually light up before the alarm wakes me, bloody amazing stuff and has really made a difference to my sleep pattern.

I also have my lounge lights hooke dup to 'hue disco', which is lots of fun.

I'm keeping my eye out at the moment for a cheap hue tap, it can get infuriating using the app to change the mood at times.

Get a Raspberry Pi. I've linked one to my Hue lights. Use it to turn on my lights (and colorloop them which you can't do from the Hue apps) at sunset. Have also wired in a remote control to start and stop certain scenes.

Excellent! What sleep app do you use?

The lightify disco is quite good.

Also the poster whose using the pi. Any links or is this a custom pi job?

anyone suggest any adhesive tape that'll keep the light strips stuck to the TV? I've got some mammoth tape on the way but god knows if it'll work.

Took some scripts I found online and tweaked them heavily. More than happy to share the code though. Apart from the remote I also hooked up a very cheap PIR so some of the downstairs lights come on if we venture down there in the middle of the night.

Wow, these Lightify bulbs buzz something terrible. They sound like when you put your ear to a glass of coke. I thought I had a faulty one until I read a review that mentioned this and included a sample of audio capturing the buzz.

I have been looking into getting hue GU10 bulbs in my livingroom but looking at the specs it appears the bulb would be to big for the housing.

Can anybody who already has the GU10 bulbs fitted tell me if they had to get new housings or was it just a straight replacement of the old bulb for the new one?

Cheers!

From what I've read elsewhere they are bigger than normal GU10s and you may need new fittings. Just order one from Amazon to try and return it if it doesn't fit smile

Sorry to hike the the thread, can anyone recommend a dimmer switch that will work with the Hue bulbs - preferably one that can be controlled via iPhone and or Harmony remote systems.'
:beer;
Thanks

Am I missing something? The bulbs can be dimmed through the Hue app, it's also compatible with the Harmony remote?

I had some issues with the existing dimmer switches which ended up breaking a bulb. It sounds as though I can simply use a standard wall light switch and use the Hue app to adjust the brightness?

Yeah, regular wall switch and you're good to go, don't think you're supposed to use these with dimmer switches. Or fit one of these instead;

I use a Hue Tap as a dimmer switch. I configured with the Hue TapApp so buttons 2 and 4 dim down and up respectively, button 3 is set as a scene, and the main button 1 is an On Off switch. The Hue TapApp is android only afaik but I only used it once months ago for the initial config. If you're feeling flush you could always buy multiple Taps for different locations around the home! smile

I only really use the app to dim up or down, or turn on and off selective lights.

Just bought some of these "Wireless electronic ballast FLS-PP lp with Power PWM interface for RGBW and RGB lights (12/24V LED/LED stripes), ZigBee certified product" (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NMSQ4QQ) to add to my Hue setup.
Apparently fully Hue compatible and can use longer (and cheaper) strips of RGB and RGBW leds.

Will let you know how I get on!

I have been replacing most of my household lighting with hue bulbs but have come across a problem.

I have this floor lamp http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/6021654...

The hue bulbs do not seem to work. I'm not really sure why.

Would it be the floor switch that causes the issue? If it is I could just cut it out because if i have a hue bulb in it there is no need for the switch anyway.

My whole house is Philips Hue and I love it - esp Hue Disco when we have a party.

The new apps though......

wow what a stinker.
