Question.
If I purchase 2x Sonos Play 1 with Alexa and pair them for use in my kitchen when I bark commands will they get confused as there's 2 alexas listening?
I'm wondering if I should buy 1 with Alexa and one without Alexa...
I’m sure there is a ‘mute’ function/button since Alexa has this...If I purchase 2x Sonos Play 1 with Alexa and pair them for use in my kitchen when I bark commands will they get confused as there's 2 alexas listening?

TP Link HS100's for smart plugs, I've got half a dozen and they do the job nicely. Don't pay more than £15 though, they're on offer fairly regularly.
I've been toying with them to replace the timer switches / remote control we have on our five fish tanks. Pressing one button seems quicker than saying "Alexa, turn fish tank lights on" but then you have to find the remote, etc first...
I've one ordered to play around with on a lamp in the meantime.
Reassuring to know that they are £15 regularly

SmartThings hub and just about any Zigbee/Z-Wave button and you could have a dedicated switch that would sort all your fish tank lights out if you're that way inclined. Although I've always found that voice control is easy in a main room as I can talk as I walk across the room to do something else.Pressing one button seems quicker than saying "Alexa, turn fish tank lights on" but then you have to find the remote, etc first...

A HS100 on a fish tank light was the first 'smart home,' gadget I used (along side an Echo Dot.) Perfect for awkward locations like cabinets. But I ended up automating it all anyway through SmartThings - a combination of timer and geofencing. So it'd be on until about midnight, but would switch off if the house was empty - turning on again upon someone's return.
Voice control is really handy. Automation is better.

I have echos spread around the house. Generally 2 will here my command as I’m walking and I’m assuming the one with the strongest volume on the mic takes over as one will always switch off and allow the other to continue listening to my command. Annoying issue time.
I've had two Dots for ages. No issues. I then added two more this Prime Day. Now it seems that I'm regularly getting the red ring of doom and issues connecting. Unplug the power, reconnect and it's all fine.
It seems to affect two Dots in particular. One I could almost suggest could be wifi related as it's smack bang between my main router and my AP, but the second should be solidly connected to the router.
Any ideas what's going on?

Tenohfive does your router transmit at both 2.4ghz and 5ghz? If so try and make your device connect on the 2.4ghz frequency. you can also make your router transmit on a different channel which might be worth trying. You need to google your broadband provider for these details and changes.

My ISP provided router is in modem mode, I've got an Asus router and a Unifi AP setup to handle the networks.Eg

I'm pretty sure the Echo's are all on 2.4ghz as I try to put all smart home stuff on that channel and leave 5ghz free for media streamers and phones etc. Channels could be worth looking but I seem to remember looking when I set the AC Lite up and didn't see too much risk of interference with neighbours.
I've gone into the settings and re-connected the last one to play up to my 2.4ghz SSID in case I'd somehow put it on something else. As of right now, everything is working - but if that changes I'll try changing channels.

Any recommendations on WiFi bulbs, Alexa compatible.. I've got none so far, so would need a "main unit" too I assume?
I would have recommended Tradfri, but mine are a real pain if the hub is disconnected from the power. I still haven't got them working again with Alexa after the last time we had to switch the power off. AAAARGH, FFS how do I improve Alexa's taste in music?
Rather than specifying a playlist I'll often just say "Alexa, play some music" and it'll start on some random playlist via Amazon music. Recently about half the time I get the response "Here's a station you might like, Nicky Minaj"
Clearly me telling her to stop within 2 seconds of starting a playlist isn't logged as me not liking that playlist, and going through giving loads of tracks a thumbs down hasn't worked either.

So a subwoofer is coming out in the amazon range and smart plug.
