How do you update a Dot or does it do it automatically?

I think they are almost there making it almost like a woman, my Echo doesn't listen to me either.

Voice control of home heating is cool. I've got a honeywell lyric, directly supported and it's works really really well.
Yep love the lyric control, does indeed work well.

I've only just discovered I can group Hive lights and turn them on at the same time with Alexa.

A few announcements today, the Echo Show is the long rumoured Echo with a screen, and there is an update for voice calling between Echos and Alexa apps (video calling between Echo Shows, but it's Amazon's own, not Skype or Facetime).

Call the lights something different from the room name, seemed to fix it for me. So living room light 1, 2, 3, etc. and the room group is called lounge.

This, and the ability to call people with an Echo / Dot by telling Alexa to do it will be game changers (for me anyway!)

Not sure that I'll get on it TBH. They want those who have been active on previous betas. I've been on them but never posted any feedback (or indeed been asked to).

Fingers crossed anyway

This what I do with mine but using Hue. Three seperately named lights in living room group but in the group turn the main light off so when I ask for living room on it just turns on the lamps, I can turn the main light on by asking for it individually.

So adverts are meant to be coming: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/05/11/ads_amazon...

if they do, mine are in the bin if I can't turn them off.
