Google Pixel smartphone

I've had my 6 pro since release, which I bought direct from Google. It's a good phone, but certainly not worth £850.
Anyway, I think I had some lemon juice squirt on the screen which has left some stains. From googling I think it's stripped the screen coating where the droplets landed. Kind of a stupid problem to have...
So I need to make a warranty claim. Can I request that they give me a new phone instead? Their options are to either send it in or take it to a EE shop for repair. I don't really want to surrender my phone and have to wait for a repair, as I'm then stuck without a phone. What do?

You'll need to raise a case with Google; they can do advance replacement - they put a payment authorisation on your credit/debit card, send you a refurbished device and release the auth hold when you return the other device. At least that's what they did when I was trying to find out whether the appaling video performance on my 6 Pro at the time was a hardware or software issue.
Transpired ultimately it was software-related - but if Google had at least acknowledged the problem early on, we could've saved a lot of frustration and dicking about. After RMA'ing my initial device and two subsequent refurbished devices they eventually did send me a brand new one. Which still had the same problem until they patched it.
I normally love tech but the 6 Pro started off as tragically ste and has only just - some 6 months after launch - upped its game to merely 'average' and certainly not worth the asking price as you say. I'll be thinking hard about whether I ever buy another Pixel and if I do, it absolutely will not be pre-launch. I've learned that lesson well now.

I think brightness control is highly subjective. I'm fine with it on my PIxel 6 and have been with every phone I've every owned. My other half sets hers manually (some Samsung or other) to what I consider very bright.
I was in the cinema the other day and the person next to me had their phone set to what must have been max brightness. I couldn't even look at it!

The two options it's giving me on the warranty claim website is to walk in to a EE shop or send it in. No option for advance replacement. Are you aware of a contact number for customer services? You'll need to raise a case with Google; they can do advance replacement - they put a payment authorisation on your credit/debit card, send you a refurbished device and release the auth hold when you return the other device. Weird. I think I did mine through the Google support portal: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/92184...I don't know that there's any way to speak to someone at Google unfortunately (one of my pet hates in the modern world where everything's routed back to 'check our website' or 'send us an email')...
Just seen Google have reduced the 6/6 Pro pricing. I was waiting for the 6a but I can now get the 6 for an extra £50 which seems like a no brainer. Guess they are trying to clear stock ahead of the 7 launch.
I assume the majority of any initial bugs have been fixed with recent updates?
Anyone got any real life photos of the seafoam colour?

A US-centric poll no doubt, but connection issues seems to still be a major issue - one of the comments was UK based on EE and said no issues https://www.androidauthority.com/google-pixel-6-se...I assume the majority of any initial bugs have been fixed with recent updates?

Tempting at latest price, £435 on Amazon currently and it's Prime day next week - Seafoam would be my choice too

Both of these have (in my case ate least) been sorted with updates. I now have a screen protector fitted and the finger print reader works as well as did on other phones I've had and as for network connectivity, again as good as my previous phones on Voxi/Vodafone.
Wifi and Bluetooth have been rock solid since day one including the wireless android auto.
I think now it's actually quite a good phone, and at that price you're getting a lot of bang for your buck.
I've had the Pixel 6 pro since launch and apart from the poor battery life it's been ok to use but doesn't feel like it's a 'flagship' when compared side by side to a £200 Chinese phone running the same OS.
I don't think it was value for money at launch and will likely be my last Pixel I buy at RRP.
Currently Currys are doing a really good trade in deal where you get £200 off if you trade in an older working Pixel phone which brings the price of a 6 down to around £250!

I've got an OG XL, my son has my old 2xl, my 3, and herself's 4xl - the £100 off for any android plus £12/£25/£40/£110 per model (except her 4xl has a patch on the screen so £18 - if you've a fully working 4xl it'd be £240 for a 6) and £100 + £190 for a 5. I don't think it was value for money at launch and will likely be my last Pixel I buy at RRP.

No Currys within two hours of me (no way I'm doing the send it in thing and it suddenly needs repair...) or I'd do the boy's 2xl and give him my 3 as it's way too big for him but perfect nick.
30% of the Pixel Buds-A if bought with a 6, so £48.
Hot UK deals saying there's a £100 trade in offer at CPW and you can get £55 back via one of the cashback sites?

It's an extra £100 on usual trade in price so it very much depends what phone you are trading as to what you would get. You can search on the link below. Seems quite a restrictive list online so I am going to head into store this weekend with an old Moto phone and even if I just get the extra £100 I'll be happy.https://www.currys.co.uk/services/ways-to-pay/trad...
Is anybody else using a Pixel 4a still? I'm seeing some horrific battery life from mine lately with light use (Android 12). At midday yesterday, I had 82% battery and the phone said it would run out by 7:45 that evening!
While I'm moaning... how is the fingerprint scanner so so bad? Also swiping up to view all open apps doesn't always work. I am definitely considering switching to an iPhone 11 just for the battery life. When my girlfriend comes to visit for the weekend and doesn't charge her iPhone 11 once, the battery on this thing does begin to grate.

If you're using a 4a, presumably it's pretty old? Batteries diminish over time. While I'm moaning... how is the fingerprint scanner so so bad? I have found the battery life on my PIxel 6 brilliant. Better than any phone I've ever had.

Maybe she doesn't use it much? I've got a work iPhone XR I only use it for emails, text and calls, no social media etc, its battery goes quickly. I'd be looking at whats running on your 4A, "light use" probably = loads of apps running in the background.
My missus and cousin always moan about battery usage, found out recently they both leave their camera app open all day.

I try to monitor my battery usage settings and I have disabled a fair bit of background stuff. AccuBattery is currently saying about 5 hours of screen on time from 100% of battery. Won't go into full tech support here! Thank you and just good advice to just double-check that nothing is open all day.I'd be looking at whats running on your 4A, "light use" probably = loads of apps running in the background.
