Cheers Taita, managed to nab one for herself this morning as she's never done moaning about the lack of storage and battery life on her 4xl compared to her previous P20 Pro...then she picked me up and said her car had started revving on its own last night at the roundabout, "were you actively trying to rev it at the time?" NO! (she was, the clutch is slipping - warned her for long enough to modify her driving style as she was doing it no favours...)
So it'll probably end up going back and being a donation to the repairs hehe

Noticed they have the 4xl for £199, helluva phone for that money even though it's three gens old and won't get any more software updates (Play store mostly deals with that nowadays anyway) and has middling battery life - but it's on the latest software, excellent camera and really good 90hz display, fancy face unlock, wireless charging, still great performance and two year warranty, hard to beat at that price.

That's not correct. Android itelf isn't updated through the Play Store, that deals with app updates only.

As good as the 4XL was I wouldn't be buying a device that's no longer receiving security updates.

That's why I said mostly, as long as the play store is up to date, you have Play Protect active and only install trusted apps, 2FA on your accounts etc...but depends on your security needs - I've got an OG/2XL/3/4XL all end of support and had zero security issues across them all, banking apps work etc,but again depends on how risk averse you are and just how secure you need a device to be for your needs.

Picked up a Pixel 7 Pro yesterday, has anyone had any success with the 3 month YouTube Premium offer?

Apparently you need to redeem a code for it, but I can't work out where you would find a code from your purchase?

Try opening the YouTube app on the 7, logged into YouTube with the same account which you purchased the phone on. You might receive a prompt to avail of the 3 month offer - or at least I did anyway.

Thankyou, I'll give this a go.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a wall charger for the 7 Pro?

My OnePlus 7T had 'warp charging' so happy to buy whichever wall plug that gives the fastest speed for the Pixel

I bought one of these and it does the job well for me. Cheap and cheerful 30w PD charger. I bought a second one for the watch too.

Deal: USB C Plug, INIU 30W USB C Charger PD 3.0 Charging Power Adapter Type C Fast Wall Mobile Phone Mains Charger, UK USB-C Adaptor for iPhone 14 Pro Max iPad Samsung S22 Google Pixel Tablet Laptop etc. https://amzn.eu/d/cRZBaXx

Anyone else still get overheating messages with the pro6? I was at the beach earlier and it was about 4c and when I used the exposure setting the phone complained it was too hot to allow exposure control. If I tried a few times it let me use it. Defo a bug. Phone was stone cold.

No, but I had my local google approved repair shop do a replacement with an OEM battery on my P3. Was fine.

Was that free?
There appear to be no approved suppliers down South so only option is to send it off

No, was about $80 inc. Several years out of warranty.

Looking at getting my P5 done. Approved place in Guildford will do it for £50. 1 year warranty

I find the battery on my P6P drains fairly slowly to start with but then rapidly. If I'm up by 7am, by 2pm it may be on around 65-70% but with similar use from 2pm-9pm it's then on around 15-20% so a fairly significant increase in discharge despite no significant usage change....?

Mine does the same, it will lose upto 20% overnight if I forget to put it onto charge and other times will only lose a couple of percent.

One thing that's been annoying me is the revocation of app permissions if you haven't used them in a while, it should flash up that they've been disabled when you open the app rather than having to second guess why they aren't working anymore.

Wasted a long time this weekend trying to make Torque work properly with an odb2 reader which was down to the location permissions being denied.

I get a notification on my P6 telling me apps have had their permissions removed. It gives a list to review.

Yeah, it does sound as if Notifications for requests have been toggled off or something similar.

I also receive a Notification saying permissions are being revoked for unused apps, and tapping it allows you to review the list.

But regardless of that if the Torque app needed location permissions it should have opened a Location Permission dialog on the screen, asking you to confirm or deny the permission. It shouldn't have just left you in the dark not knowing what might have changed.
Hence my initial thought that something higher has been toggled about permissions or notifications if you don't encounter either prompt.

Poxy Pixel 6a has been refusing to run Assistant for a week(?) now, saying "Your Assistant needs additional downloads" and then "An error has occurred. Make sure you're online and try again."

Over and over and over again.

I've have tried all the solutions offered online;

- About 8 zillion reboots.
- Make sure Android and all apps are up to date.
- Set the default language to US English. Which I don't want.
- Reinstall Assistant, with and without data deletion.
- Force stop & reboot.
- Resync date and time.

All to no avail. I liked this phone, but I'm approaching the point of pricing up an iPhone.

Any suggestions?

Can't help on that one. I've been trying to suss out why my 7 is Bob responsive sometimes. It takes 2 touches for it to recognise I want to select something. Very weird.

There was a supposed "fix", but that hasn't helped at all.

I know what Google support would suggest.. and It's probably what I would do at this point... Factory reset and start again.

Have you been installing third party launchers or apps that control things on the phone?

I've had Pixel/Nexus phones for years now, had a few hardware issues but software wise, especially the native Google apps have been solid.

Got a "bug" on my work iPhone (XR) at the moment where teams keeps closing for no reason.
