Just renewed £87 for maxit, movies channels and extra box with 200mb BB, was on £84, does this seem a good deal, seeing some of the posts I should of said I wanted to cancel.
We've got Maxit, 200Mb, an extra box, a WiFi extender and basic landline for £65. Sounds like you're paying a hefty price for movies, but I've no idea what a good price is for them. You may have done better, but if you're happy with £87 (which I presume you are) I'd save the time and effort trying to shave a few more pounds off and carry on with life.

Sorry if I have missed this but what number is everyone calling?

I have tried calling the standard number but I'm told there is a wait of several hours?

Been offered

Top TV package (MaxIt TV)
Sky Sports HD
New Box etc
350mb fibre

£72 & £10 for 10gb sim card, total of £82.

Currently a Fibre customer on 200mb/s for £23/month.

Decent deal? Been with Sky for years but their costs are now stupid.

A week today the Open Reach guys should be here and a new line in
Really interested ( and excited) to see how it performs. Then it will be cancellation to VM.
It really wouldn't matter if they could match the deal I am getting from BT I just fancy a change and having a line put in makes it easier to swap at end of contract.
Basically if this new line works out ok the it will be a difference of £33 - doesnt sound too much but over the year thats just short of £400.
Again if it works then the only thing I am giving up is the speed difference between the new and Virgins and a V6 box
Admittedly it will now be a digital voice line instead of the existing phones we have but I have already bought up some second hand BT Digital Voice phones
I will find it genuinely interesting what if anything Virgin offer and what their tactics will be

Thanks, got through in 40 mins.

Monthly bill for phone line and 100mb reduced from £58.50 to £45 including upgrade to 200mb - not the greatest reduction but their broadband has been really reliable and no-one else does fibre broadband in our area (not out in the sticks).

They offered me that for £46. I cancelled and got it down to £30. You really have to say no thanks that's still too much can I cancel. The second guy will suddenly offer you a good deal.

I then got a random £5 off because apparently I wasn't hitting the speeds for a day or two? News to me but yay.

Our problem is that no-one else offers fibre in our area, so I don't have much of a choice if I want 100mb or faster broadband. We are pretty heavy users, always at least 3 of us streaming.

Tried cancelling a few years ago, and they called my bluff as they know we don't have other options.

Could save a bit more by droppoing the landline, but our parents still call us on the landline.

I was in the same position, weve only just got Fibre To The Cabinet, so this will be our last year with virgin and they will then be dumped. No more contract hokey cokey, much easier to switch when u have a choice of supplier

I pay £24/m for 100mb, no landline phone but I do get an unlimited calls/text Virgin mobile sim. Only other option in my street is 35mb on the phone lines.

Finally confirmed the new 18m package

MaxIt TV
Sky Sports HD
350mb/s boadband
10GB 02 Sim card

£78 month. Roughtly what SKY wanted for their TV package alone, no SIM or BB.

Not sure if SKY have changed their approach but once I cancelled, I never had one call from them to come back.

Hello !
First Post.
Virgin dropped from £89.50 to £59 without an argument.
But 61 minutes to be put through!
Full TV with Motor Sport, (BT, Eurosport etc) Broadband 100 Mb/s and unfortunately, the silly Land Line deal.
We are really happy with it.
Oh and a new Router which arrives tomorrow!

First Post. Pleased with my recent renegotiation.

I currently have Maxit TV (190+ channels), M200, V6 Box and a landline with Talk Weekends which I never use for which I was paying £69.75, which is £837/year (I had certain monthly discounts prior to that, so was more like £50/month).

Letter received telling me it’s all going up to £92.75/month. That’s a whopping £1,113 per annum!!

New users were being offered that same package for £49/month plus £150 Cashback, so about £41/month or £492 per annum. This was my target.

Called up to renegotiate and was offered £62/month “less than you’re currently paying”, so pulled the cord and gave my 30 days notice.

Two days later, Retentions called with an OK offer: for current package £44/month or £528/year for 18 months. Didn’t bite, saying I watch lots of Netflix now and use the e-players on catch up for most TV, so I’m only really paying for the benefits of the VM channel interface. Helps I’m in central London, so plenty of competition. Said I would be happy with a fast 500MB Vodafone broadband for £35/month.

He then offered a bump to M350 broadband and an upgrade to TV360 via a software feed to my current V6 box. Only downside is that I lose all my recordings in the upgrade (36% full, so I will get busy watching movies!). I would have held out for a £10 contribution off the Bill, but was in a hurry.

So Maxit TV (190+ channels), M350, TV360 and still have a useless landline with Voicemail and Talk Weekends for £44/month over next 18 months but good for leverage if I ever switch my SIM contract.

Was happy with that, and based on an 18 months contract, the numbers look like this:

ORIGINAL CONTRACT = £1,256
NEW OFFER CONTRACT = £1,670
RENEGOTIATION = £792

So, depending on how you look at it, I can claim a £464 saving over 18 months vs. original contract, or a massive £878 saving over the proposed new offer contract, plus a faster broadband speed and a new TV360 interface for about 20 mins effort! Hope this is useful to others!

O20 3743 6946

Is one of the numbers the retentions team use.
I gave notice yesterday and they rang this morning. I didnt answer first call but second from same number (above) was them.
They made an offer that normally I may have been tempted with it took it down to the price I was paying 2 years back
BUT
The new BT one is performing very well and its £396 cheaper per year than what I was paying before I cancelled and is £228 cheaper than the offer they made

Had a bit of a nightmare with Virgin media today.

Broadband contract ends, £47.99 per month now I’m out of contract. Call up, get offered it for £30 per month over 18 months, then get cut off.

Call back only to be told they couldn’t offer me any discounts and £47.99 was the best they’d offer.

Will be cancelling the contract once I have another deal lined up elsewhere. The lack of negotiation on their part was surprising, I’ll happily switch though.
